Questions on building my own loyale lift kit
Fish-N-Fool replied to Fish-N-Fool's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Is there something out there that fits or you talking about a custom made one? -
Here is a 79 brat in pretty fair condition for $1200 also in Washington. It needs a little love but it could be super nice! http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/4859401100.html

Questions on building my own loyale lift kit
Fish-N-Fool replied to Fish-N-Fool's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yea I know I can but I want more tire clearance then that as I want to put on a set of Lt 235/60/R15 tires I have that are mounted on 6 lug 1/2 ton Chevy 4x4 Chrome spokes, plus I don't want to stress the CV axles that much. I can't get them to last at stock height now. -

That's a 23 window bus and yes some guys pay a ton for these . I just don't see it personally. I would rather have a Brat -

I WANT IT !!!!!!! -
I think that all depends on the condition. I would rather spend more on a body with no rust and no drivetrain than one that ran and drove, but was a rusty POS. So I would say it all depends on how bad the rust was. If it is really bad many guys would not buy it at any price. If the rust is only surface then no problem I'd go with 3K. If it's bad rust through Maybe $1200 tops

In looking at my 93 Subee. I can see where I need to ad blocks to lower the motor and the tranny cross member but no one has ever said anything about the strut rods that go from the lower control arms to the frame. These are bolt on and I'm guessing that they would have to be lowered as well. My other question is the driveline carrier bearing mount. If you lower the tranny and rearend it would put the driveline at an odd angle if the mount was not lowered as well? I plan to lower all the suspension mounts 2" and add a 3" strut lift for a net difference of 1" change in CV axle height angle. I plan to make most of the parts out of 2"x2" and 3"x2" by 3/16" wall tubing. Any thoughts? Any thing I'm missing here or problems to look out for. Will I run into shifter linkage problems? I know i have to extend the steering linkage but not sure of anything else.

I got mine at Pull N save for $55 bucks I couldn't stand my S/R 5 speed so had to trash it for the D/R Hope to finish it up tomorrow. Just need a few parts I forgot to get once I get that done, next is my homemade 3" lift kit and 15" wheels and tires.

Did you buy a adapter plate or make one? I see it was a manual, I hope you put in the D.R. tranny also to complete this sweet ride.

I sometimes get a whining noise in my car too, but the funny thing is it only happens then my wife is in the car.

I'm putting a older Hi-Lo tranny out of a 87 GL into my 93 Loyale and I have some questions for anyone that has ever done this. Both were 5 speeds so it all bolts up fine, but I want to also swap the gauges out so it has the Hi -Lo lights on the dash and the oil pressure gauge and amp gauges that mine does not have. What would be the best and easiest way to go about wiring this? and what all would I need to get the gauges to work.

I Need A Heater Mechanic
Fish-N-Fool replied to Subarumor's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If the door isn't opening properly it will not push air through the core so no heat, or very little heat and cools quickly. Sounds to me like you need to confirm that the door works as it should -

Just look how cool this would have been with a little lift and to have the tailgate fixed like I plan to do mine. I think I'm going to do my (paint job) in lime green colored spray on truck bed liner with some black for accent. I plan to really off road this and tow and launch a small bass boat up into remote lakes. I just replaced my push button 5 speed with a hi-lo dual range 5 speed. Next comes the lift and suspension mods to 6 lug 15" wheels with some monster mudders, then on to the body chop to turn it into a truck. Cooool huh !!!!! -
My New/Used 1992 Loyale
Fish-N-Fool replied to josiahm91's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey Josh I had the same problem with my 93 Loyale with the push button 5 speed and it turned out to be the shift linkage. Which is a long piece of pipe tubing. It was cracked, then It finally broke and then i had no gears at all. lol Replaced it with a new piece ( from the wrecking yard) and it shifts like new again. I would check it first before you buy any parts. Jack up the car and put it on stands, have a helper shift it while you slid under and look at the linkage. You most likely will see what and where the problem is. -

Is this your car or something you saw? I'm planing to do this to a Ea82 soon as well and some more info on this would be great. What year is this it looks like a Loyale but hard to tell for sure at that angle. If it's yours did you use the rear hatch for the back window? I really like how it looks , Hope mine comes out as nice. Does the tail gate work? I plan to cut mine off above the tail lights so the tail gate is just square and weld the corners to the body for a cleaner look. Here is what I hope to build, this is photo shoped. -

Building my own EA82 brat
Fish-N-Fool replied to Fish-N-Fool's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The only way that would work is to use the 3 door car to start with otherwise it's would be far to much work to be worthwhile. Plus i can get in and out of the wagon now with 4 doors so welding the back ones shut will have no effect on that. -

I'm tall too 6'3" and I have to have the seat all the way back and reclined some to fit. That's why I am using the rear hatch for more seat and head room as the glass bumps out some and the angle its at. I checked it out with me in the stock wagon and I think I will have some room to share with this setup, but i can just move the hatch back a few inches if i need more room. See how easy that was
