  1. BINGO http://www.bustedfingermotorsports.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=211 H6 engine Manual
  2. I am doing a little research. I found this http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/110-gen-2-2000-2004/31558-3-0-h6-timing-chain-guide-discussion-2.html "You'd be hard pressed to get the chain keys to line up with the sprocket marks after the car has been running. Those are really only useful during reassembly. The dark gray links are pretty subtle; you can just make them out at about 3 o'clock on the intake and 6 o'clock on the exhaust in this photo of my engine" The outback board has done three of them (guess we are all H4 people here) so try there.
  3. Once you decide after answering GD's question, this is who I use to get parts or for at least a price guide. http://www.subaruworld.com/ Also well liked is http://www.car-part.com/ The first one actually have a-part-that-shall-rename-nameless for the Justy that I could not find anywhere, new used or otherwise.
  4. If I had room for a grinder I would (then I could have the ever popular torch too) but sadly I dont. Thats the next house. I just have a bunch of dull drills, they dont need to get sharpened often.
  5. No it's an open diff. If you stomp on it on a wet road and the front wheels spin, it is not working, if the car takes off, it is fine.
  6. Could be a dying speed sensor or more likely a bad connection or dirty one. Just remove and reconnect the plugs that usually cleans them. VSS usually work or they dont.
  7. Yes they took my core, they are rebuilt, from what I have been told, at the same place subaru had thiers rebuilt
  8. I park that way too, subaru isnt just love, it means always having a parking space.
  9. I looked on google earth, some of those roads are scary, not roller coaster scary (eeek) but wonderfully beautifully scary.
  10. Sigh, sidetracked again.
  11. Is this doable for a solo lifted subaru in early sept. I am trying to plan a road trip for blu and some photography time for me.
  12. Well lets do it this way, ask them how they pulled the codes. You don't need a scanner to pull them. Another way to find out. If you dont have RWD when you floor the gas on dry ground, your front tires will want to spin, even more so on wet ground. The trick is NOT to have your wheels spin, but to have them turn and push you, this is the computers job to make happen.
  13. Find yourself a muddy dirt road and floor it, they should spin. I will take the word of the tranny shop (since they didn't try to sell you anything) for now.
  14. If I had a bench grinder I would take a different approach, but I don't have room for the tools I have now
  15. I would go with a GOOD axle, like Autozone or better. Check the wheel bearing, hub and frame. Make sure all the bushings are good in the suspension. I had a much older one do this, and rust was tearing the frame apart so axles kept failing, some rather spectacularly.
  16. In a word, No. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/718139-different-types-of-grease-questions-wheel-bearing-and-lithium.html
  17. Wow this and clutch issues making it around the boards .. usually it is frozen brake pedals in winter. Car is too young to have failed clutches (never know). I wonder if you have a dead VSS. Has anyone looked for transmission codes?
  18. And just for the record, you are still dragging around all that drive gear in back of the car even if you could, so no gain. Want 2wd and gas mileage, I hear Honda has those
  19. Two things i never got a knack for, sharpening drills and screwdrivers (well restoring them). I am looking for an economical (read cheap) free standing sharpener. Lite duty use. I see on ebay Chicago Electric and Sears craftsman. Any one have opinions on these units? Thanks
