  1. Spark plug bucket seals are best from Subaru otherwise you may need it again. You also need wires as the oil attacks the silicon.
  2. After 135K if you want to you can, but usually you wait for a performance issue or for the light to come on, which can be NOW, nope not now, maybe tomoorow, maybe next year .... Use OE for the front. I usually wait for an issue of it throws a code.
  3. Wwhere did you measure that, at the manifold or the output of the vac resivoir?
  4. Installed a 2003 Subaru am/fm/wb/cd radio in the Justy. Replaced the electrical oil pressure gauge with a mechanical gauge (better spread, doesnt react to the cooling fan).
  5. It really is not uncommon for a muffler to have the baffles fail from rust and or vibration.
  6. God i havent seen those Pyramid speakers since college, way back. I forgot about those, they actually had decent sound.
  7. Thats the idea Otherwise I have to mount speakers in the cargo area which would choke them off. There is no place else to mount speakers anywhere, and they are not referenced anywhere in the FSM.
  8. Thats why I want something verry boring and blah. We really dont have a stereo problem here in NY anymore, but I dont want to tempt fate.
  9. Oh I would, but I think your missing the point sort of. If I could find those housings, I would gut them, it is the housing (box) that would be of huge help. I could care less if they were empty.
  10. I can't seem to find them in the USA, but that is what I was hoping to find.
  11. http://www.paintscratch.com/apple.html That's who I use to mix paint for the Justy if you are looking for something in a can.
  12. Today Justy (the Justy) had a am/fm/wb/cd player installed. If it had a black face it would look right at home, but it does not . Oddly it sounded great on the original front speakers. Now I am looking for rear speakers. This being a 1989 the package tray is not a lot to talk about. I don't want to cut holes in the plastic package tray. The odd thing, well normal for a car of that time, it is wired for rear speakers but no place to mount them anywhere. Does anyone make small on-deck speakers anymore. I see pioneer has some 3 way speakers, but two of them I think would bridge the width of the car
  13. But the real question, can the dog now reach the pedals? He has a license so he should know how to drive.
  14. Actually it is just up to the whim of the designer (boss). Though it has become more standard that if there is a foot brake it is in an automatic today and a pull up handle between the seats norm for a manual. I think (not sure) that the pull out handle from under the dash has gone the way of the doo-doo. There was a time when the foot parking brake could be in a manual or auto, those made for fun hill starts.
  15. Slghtly off topic, i have a 1951general repair manual (looks like a really thick pocket bible). Only recently has there been truly new things that have not been in cars before, but it is interesting and sometimes amazing how they made things work (vac assisted clucth, self leveling using torsion bars). You look at it and wonder how did they make this stuff last, then realize if a car hit 60,000 miles in one peice it was lucky.
  16. I said when they first came out, in the 1930's and 40's not now. Rear disc brakes have little brake shoes in them as they are just cheaper to make then a caliper with a ratcheting method, though they are out there.
  17. For even back then thats a pretty good price for the luxury group. In the Justy they zapped the owner for over 200 bucks for a stereo radio.
  18. I'm surprised they didnt try to wiggle out of it as "unauthorized driver" Technically the subaru hand brake is an emergency brake, as opposed to a parking brake. A Parking brake uses the existing service brake hardware (shoes/pads what not) to hold the car. An emergency brake has it's own brake shoes/pads/springs etc. When hyd brakes first came out, they were not all that trusted so in the drum you would have service brake shoes and emergency brake shoes. Over time the terms have become universally mixed up. Which reminds me I have to look at why mine doesnt work.
  19. i don't recall but it looks like a little disk sometimes, lmagine 4 quarters stacked together. Best is to just follow the line between the resevoir and wherever the hose goes to.
  20. hehe i saw that bbut subaru doors are so thin
  21. There is a speed threshold at which the joint falls out of the cage and starts the imbalance. Technically you can limp home if that speed is reasonable, but usually it is 20mph murphies law.
