Halloween wheeling,m we will be hunting down the elusive Jersey Devil. Oct 29th. We usually aim for a 10 AM start and have lunch in the pine barrens. It ends when it ends or someone gets eaten. If the last part happens it will be on Youtube. Skill level is from drive and park to get the car covered in fine NJ Pine Barren clay. All cars welcome, and trucks, and *GASP* jeeps http://s183.photobucket.com/albums/x234/nipper-dawg/NJ%20Pine%20Barrens%20March%2026%202009/ http://s183.photobucket.com/albums/x234/nipper-dawg/NJ%20Pine%20Barrens%20Nov%2023/ So far it is me and NJSubaru

Well it is a noise you can ignore for a while, but it is time for a clutch. It is the throw out bearing.

Digidash temp gauge reads high

There is no such thing as haing too many grounds. ON a car that old I usually just add a ground as part of maint on an older car from the engine to the battery. -

Engine plastics have been around for over 20 years, plastic intake manifolds longer, they all do fine.- 70 replies

EEk did not realize it was in the red. Your car is old enough that the radiator may be decrepid. Check all the cooling fins between behind the AC and see what condition they are in. How old is the radiator cap (or have we been through all this already ) -
There are lots of people who have done Subaru to VW swaps all the time so it is doable, again with enough money

Those winodws arent a design fault but a technical need. They make a much better window track and seal due to the rake of the windsheild. Everyone is pulling out every stop in the book aerodynamically. Roof pillars are getting thicker and longer to meet the new roof load standards.- 70 replies

Well lets check one more thing, whats the output at 1800 rpm with everything on? Check all your grounds. How freely does your electric fan move? Is this change instant with a change in electrical load? -

I have had this ( i miss the his gauge set). The way things are wired a weak alt can cause this, so check your alt output and battery. Low output can look the same as lower voltage flow (higher resisitance = higher temp) and give false readings. -
It really is easy to do. Here is a general direction Lower the steering wheel. Look at the surround and there will be four screws, two top and two bottom, feel for the bottom ones as they all point up. Once you get the surround off you may have to unplug some switches or pop them out of the surround. You will now have the gauge cluster staring at you. there are four screws holding it in. Undo those screws. There are obvious electrical connectors on the back (top) of the cluster. Disconnect those. Now there (again general instructions) there may be one more connector in the center rear of the cluster. This is one plug with two wires. This is the spedo input, unplug this. Now the entire cluster will come out. The bulbs are the std bulbs. http://www.superbrightleds.com
