  1. Trans X swells seals amoung other things, so that will not help here. The fluid is badly burnt. The clutches are freid. It has lived a good life.
  2. Of course there are things they can do without codes, just this dealer is very lazy, does not want to comit time to true diagnostics and may njot have truly talented and certified machanics. Codes are a tool, not the answer. Things it can be, a worn Inhibitor switch (not always telling the car what the selector is in), a bad motor mount, a bad cable or cable out of adjustment, or a valve body issue. What is happening is for some reason the car thinks you have decided to hold 2nd gear. Every modern trannywill force an upshift at redline even when the operator decides to hold a gear. Netural after a bump is pointing to the gear selector cable/mechanisim being out of adjustment. This may be several issues not just one.
  3. The frt pump is a larger version of the PS pump. It's the pump. The oddness in shifting is a hint. It gets quieter as it warms up as the fluid gets thinner. If you rely on this car it is better for you to fix it on your terms as opposed to fixing it on it's terms.
  4. The red hatch has a scoop, you said nothing about a scoop. When you are planing on a mod tell us everything else you are planning on doing with that mod at the time.
  5. i am not sure, but technically they are spark plug bucket seals, as the plugs sit in a bucket in the valve cover.
  6. A hood mounted radiator will not get the airflow it needs to cool even with the fans. Why not just build a proper bumper for it and save a lot of work
  7. A FI block may not help you much either. This is a brick with a small engine not designed for power, but for MPG. This sounds like your choke needs to be adjusted. Your pumping it may be floding it out trying to make up for a non-functioining choke.
  8. Spark plug bucket seals should be from subar as aftermarket ones fail prematurly.
  9. Lets start with some basics. When was the last time this had a tune up and the timing belt changed. Do a tune up as fouled plugs and tired wires can cause this issue too.
  10. A Fluid Flush will not help. If it is the front pump time itself will tell soon enough as it chews itself up. The noise matches engine rpm when, moving, parked, in gear, in neutral... How is the car performing otherwise. How loud is the noise. is it a whine, or closer to a scream or metalic whine. Noises are hard to diagnose over the net, so if we are wrong don't hold it against us
  11. a 1987 has a computer feedback carb on it. This is about right as all 4cyl Mitsubishi Mightymax get 18 mpg on the epa website. Remember back then 18mpg was great for a pickup truck.
  12. I would replace that. The oil pickup issue may not come up right away, but it may in the future, and would be a very avoidable and messy engine failure.
  13. Inspect all the u joints, not just the rear. If anyone needs a DS there is a rebuilder i like.
  14. Sadly just couldnt make it, my right arm is just hurting me too much.
  15. You are probably feeling the pedal return spring (I thnk) which you would never notice with fluid in the system.
  16. Fill it with fluid and don't worry about it. You are operating it in a way that it is not designed for so it will feel odd.
  17. NEVER EVER EVEVR EVER use a cleaner or flush in a transmission, esepcially one with high mileage on it.
  18. The driveshaft needs to be ubolted and inspected. If it is a bad universal joint there is super scary impending doom coming... seriously.
  19. Thats only the modern Justy's, the subaru justies in the US were made by subaru for sale by subaru.
