  1. It should take a case (12 qts) to do a full flush. After that I do a drain and fill every third oil change to keep fresh fluid in the tranny. How does it behave when you shift manually?
  2. Oh kay ... Lets start with this then, what have you done recently to it? Last time t had a tuneup? Have you had this car a while? Does the fluid look healthy or smell burht?
  3. Well i'm saving for the next gold tooth. I need tires soon, and i have been wondering the same thing. Maybe a lack of competition does it? I always buy road hazard with tires. I should ask Tire Rack how they handle this.
  4. I just cashed my check fro the tire companies for endorsing replacing all 4 tires, now i can buy that gold tooth. I STRONGLY suggest you READ the history of this board, ever freaking site on Full time AWD, educate yourself on how it works, then form an opinion. Also NOT replacing all 4 tires make the dealers far more money in shop costs replacing an AWD system then 4 tires does.
  5. 45K on tires, your more then 50% through tire life. I would patch the tire and watch for sales. I am ok wit shaving one tire, but thats not cheap, and you may have spent double the money on one tire, may as well get all 4.
  6. Brake thing may be a fluke. Will it start in neutral? How many miles. Any CEL? Starter being weird are probably burned contacts in the starter solenoid, right age, easily fixed.
  7. Also who rebuilt the carb? It took me 4 tries to get one that works.
  8. Ihave an 89 with a CVT, and agree vac leak. Have you changed the timing belt yet (simple job).
  9. This is sort of mechanic 101, he should be able to figure this out quickly.
  10. Check all te wiring as it may be something simple. Is this an auto or a manual conversion ? Did the old one mate up to the new connector? Did he try starting it in Neutral?
  11. SPARKLIE TEST! In the evening wet all the high voltage components with a mist of water and look for sparklies. Usually it can be solved that way.
  12. Depends upon the code. Remember if a factory part has lasted X years, odds are the factory replacement will last just as long. Dont go by price alone.
  13. Flashing = angry. A flashing CEL means something is happening that can cause engine damage.
  14. You may overload the harness. The plugs sort of suck to begin with from the factory. Also the human eye will only see the brightest light closest to it, which will render high beams useless if on with low beams.
  15. I think what you have here is failed Duty C Solenoid and a tired/fried clutch pack. I would just check the solnoid to see if its open or not and call it a day. Theres not many other possibilities here, especially with the binding.
  16. 1st step swap tires f-r on one side then the other and see if it moves. If it doesnt odds are its the driveshaft. Its a bit early for a bad universal joint mileage wise but not age wise. These are sealed uiniversals so it might behoove you to get more agresive in diagnoses as the failure can be hideous.
  17. I would just unplug the HVAC control and plug it back in, that may clean the contacts, if that doesnt work sounds like the HVAC contoller is bad.
