An observation Last year my Outback got a new engine from Subaru (200K blew head gaskets). Got it back and it was filled with 0w-20 oil. When the engine was warm my aftermaarket (read cheap) oil pressure gauge would be unreadable. The dealerships response was (a great dealership btw, seriously) is the oil light on, if not its fine. It was not on, but it really bothered me. I switched to 10w-40 and at idle (on the soon to be replaced cheapo gauges I should have known better but shiney thing) i now have 10psi at idle in summer I dont trust 0w oil for a car that we tend to drive till the doors fall off.

Then I would strongly suggest a thicker oil and shorter change intervals (5000 miles so easy to remember). The 0 winter weight oil is for max MPG not for engine longevity. It just needs to carry them past the warranty period. It is to me a scary oil. Look in the owners manual under Heavy Duty use and see what they list.

I know normally i can do this myself, but my Dr said no. I have a low speed squeek at the rear suspension (not a strut or strut mount). End links and rear sway bar busings done. That leaves the Lateral link bushings. I am trying to budget time and money. Are these bushings easy for a shop to do or should I find new arms and pay upfront to save in labor later. 20010 miles. Thanks. PS I just bought new Justy brake parts so I guess i'm keeping him.

There are many things that can be at fault, but first RUN from that dealer. RUN FASTER! Now that thats cleared up, stop replacing parts. a 2nd cat ?!?!?!?! Lets do first thing first, get the codes read and post the actual code here. Exhaust systems do get hot, cats get red hot, thats how they work at times. Whats the history on this car?

This can be as simple as rack bushings being tired. There are many parts to the front end, and at 160K if you are keeping the car, rebuilding the front end isnt going to do any harm, but first, as Imdew said, you need to inspect it to see where the weakness is to begin with. Also unless you get the car on an alignment rack, you cant say the alignment is fine as something isnt.
