  1. Lets cross fingers here, and change the Thermostat with one from subaru and replace the cap (and brand name will do). They will need replacing either way so its not wasted money.
  2. Im not sure, but i think there is a body brace behind the dash, so unbolt it, dont just hack it out, the brace should stay. And then all that HVAC stuff can go.
  3. I hate to get on the lawsuit band wagon, but http://www.torquenews.com/1084/why-subaru-s-excessive-oil-consumption-issue-could-spoil-their-party
  4. I'm going to ask on the Offroad board, which is Mostly Austrailian and see what they have heard. So far they found some odd towing limits ofr the Diesel and CVT combination.
  5. Thats got to be as much weight as the stock dash skeleton.
  6. A Qt every 1200 miles is acceptable, but not normal. The problem is the zero weight oil. I am waiting for this to start buying a mfg in the ail with engine failures. It is a very thin oil and is working past either the valve seals or rings. Some oil is used on some engines to cool the piston skirts and gets vaporized, but this consumption seems to be across the board. I would suggest a different brand of oil or go to a slightly heavier weight and see if that helps. The 0-20 is just for MPG gains. https://www.cars.com/articles/2013/08/expensive-oil-changes-are-here-to-stay/
  7. Leave the wiring, leave the switches, strip everything else. Blindly stripping out gauges and wiring is a nightmare you dont need.
  8. Depends if the slave cylinder pushes or pulls the clutch fork. I think it pulls the clutch fork, so it would raise with wear. Sure yours has to be right in the middle to confuse us
  9. Yes it has no bipass valve inside it. Just that those hoses are leaking so i thought since I am there. Interesting reason for it.
  10. WHo has changed these things as 35.00 is a bit steep for a filter.
  11. Told you my car was weird. Guess I should think about changing it.

  13. there are hard lines from the transmission, then it goes behind the battery, then comes back out to the transmission cooler. Ill see if i can get a good pic.
  14. That was a 50mph hit and quick thinking on my part at a red light, but it did serious damage to my lower back and left me disabled. The car is bent. So please please please take his lower back very seriously.
  15. Listen guys, forgive me for some very obvious questions, things I most likely know, but i have been very very sick the last three months and really it saps things out of you. The trying to communicate with Dr's when you can speak clearly, the frustration on Dr's jumping to the wrong conclusion, the tears of frustration.... My 2005 Outback Ltd is a bit of an odd bird. It has a black leather interior when it shouldn't. It is more 2004 then 2005 when it comes to diagnostics and some systems. Trying to trace down some transmission fluid leaks (tired hoses) and found something odd. There are transmission lines that go behind the battery.Do I have a filter lurking back there? I can find it in any manual or on opposed forces.
  16. Ok if the car had that much damage, have your nephew go to a Dr (or whoever was) and get some x-rays of his lower back. If the car was parked with no one in it, lets be thankful.
  17. http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b11/type_45/electronic/electrical_parts_body/illustration_1/ hope that helps
  18. I think thats it, otherwise i have to scan a page from the manual and i feel lazy
  19. You cant just replace things blindly, it is time to get the meter out and see whats going on. If you dont have power where it needs to be nothing will work, no solution will work
  20. Have you really checked the blinker module? They doont work the way you may be used to. And I was wrong they do overlap.
