  1. Yes a little play is normal. If you need a driveshaft get a used one or a rebuilt one.
  2. YOu have a driveshaft with 4 universal joints and a center bearing. At that mileage I wouldnt be surprised if you had a uni problem.
  3. No the fuse holder is meant to have one of the spare fuses put in it if you get a flat or an under inflated tire. It disables the AWD. Check the fuses under the dash, and the fuse/relay panel under the hood. If everything is there, it can be over time you lost refrigerant. Check under the hood at the AC compressor to make sure that the single wire is plugged in, and follow the AC hoses and make sure the pressure switches are connected.
  4. If all the fuses are in place, it is quite possible it is low on coolant. Get some gauges on there and see what you have in the system. Your car is full time AWD, not 4wd, there is a difference (symantics I know) The fuse is used to temporarily disable the AWD system when you have a flat tire and have to use the spare.
  5. i dont want aftermarket as, well, they cost money
  6. 89 Justy, blew a tire on waht seemed like a tame pothole. So now I am not sure where to go next in tire sizes, may have to bite the bullit and start looking for escort wheels. I have heard civic wheels work too but not sure what years. I found a replacement on ebay, but if I blow another one ...
  7. Next time it happens get out and look at your turn signals, preferably in the dark with the lights off. When it happens does the lights or brakes have anything to do with it? Next choice would be to drop the knee panel on the drivers side and see if you can get a better idea of the location. There are several things that can make that kind of noise under the dash. Turn signals may be related but not the problem.
  8. An early press release! http://media.subaru.com/newsrelease.do;jsessionid=D2DABE699A7121F09A02B812942A052D?&id=432&allImage=1&teaser=subaru-surrenders-confirms-awd-turbo-convertible-two-seater&mid=1 SUBARU SURRENDERS AND CONFIRMS AWD TURBO CONVERTIBLE TWO-SEATER DIESEL HYBRID BRZ - Maker Gives in And Admits Everything Cherry Hill, N.J., - Bowing to continued media and internet speculation, Subaru of America has confirmed that it will launch an AWD Twin-Turbo Convertible two-seater Diesel Hybrid BRZ for sale in 2015. The new model essentially takes all of the media and internet rumors surrounding the highly successful BRZ sports car and delivers them in one fell swoop. A spokesman for the company said: “Having just launched the current model to widespread critical acclaim, we are tired of fighting off the constant speculation about what’s “next” and so we are just giving in and delivering all the speculation in one vehicle.” The new model, which is expected to have a starting price, will however NOT come with a much anticipated rear back-up camera. The spokesman confirmed that after shoehorning two convertible switches (up and down) onto the fascia there just wasn’t room for any more instruments. The AWD Turbo Convertible two-seater Diesel Hybrid BRZ will come in a single color, noseeum black and will be hand produced at Subaru’s Brigadoon facility. More denials about future BRZ variants can be found at media.subaru.com But like most dreams ..when you wake up ... April fools!
  9. CVTs if I remember correctly do not have a dipstick. Everyone does this once. Nothing to be ashamed of, unless it is on you tube ..... of course it isnt on youtube is it
  10. I can't seem to get a reponse form the web site, who is Retroo on here
  11. Can you post a pic? Sounds like diff fluid to me too. Sounds like he is going to learn how to do a tranny flush too.
  12. Check the grounds. Also if it is first thing in the morning, check the alt output at the same time. It can be a current issue when cold.
  13. My 89 has 36K on it so it is almost brand new. I get 29 (winter) normally 32/36 with a cvt. Wish I could see 40, but heck it is still better then the outback!
  14. NOOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok got that out of my system I am stil wondering if the timing belt jumped. Did this start all of a sudden, like the car was running fine, then the next start it started running poorly?
  15. Justy love.I have a 89 2wd CVT. Install an oil pressure gauge as the light triggers so low it is useless. Get a good gauge. They are reliable and as long as you do oil changes every 3-5K miles, they can pile the miles on. On mine i added a external oil filter, cooler, and oil thermostat to add capacity. They have such little capacity it is scary.
  16. Thats not good, thats really low.It should be idleing about 20 inhg turbo or not. At idle was the needle steady or jumping. Sounds like a huge vacume leak
  17. This may be a combination of things. Vac gauge will also give you an idea of engine compression, Hrmm .. i wonder... Maybe we are barking up the long tree. A dying fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator can cause these issues and wont throw a code.
  18. Looking at the circuit board now. There are two different ways of doing it. I used to be able to solder by hand a human hair sized wire, but I dont have the equipment to do it anymore (a very good temp controlled soldering iron). Any EE out there up for a challange?
