  1. Hrmmm I just used a windshield mount and kept the plastic cover from the stock mirror to hide the mount.

  4. Odd this is the second "my car wont shut off" post. The other was a starter that wouldnt shut off. This I would start at the iggy switch, as the actual electrical circuit is not that complicated.
  5. 65000 miles on brake pads, just replace them when you get a chance. That is extreemly good life on a set of pads. Better to do it now while the weather is nice then when the squeel starts in a january snow storm.
  6. Couped not necassarily. With front discs and rear drums there are a few shops that will pull the rear drums (one) for inspection. not defending this shop just throwing it out there.
  7. Actually as weird as this sounds to you, it is not a complicated thing to diagnose. If you arent doing the work yourself a shop can figure it out quickly. If you are doing it yourself all you need to do is disconnect the minor lead at the starter and see when that has voltage.
  8. John, it is the neutral saftey switch. It disengages in gear as it has it's power cut off.. Wait ... That would lie blame at the iggy switch. If the solenoid was shorted it would care less where the power came from.
  9. Your solenoid is stuck/shorted. Sounds like you need a starter. When you turn the key you power the solenoid. The solenoid has two purposes. The first is to push out the starter drive gear to engage the flywheel. the second is to connect the starter motor to the battery and cause the motor to spin. If you have a test light or a meter, you can test the smaller wire connected to the starter. That comes from the iggy switch. If it is powered only in the crank position it is the starter. If it is always powered iot is the iggy switch.
  10. Some units are just looking for a signal, some are actually illuminating the units. The 2nd one makes the magic smoke appear. I just tapped into the lead to the glovebox myself since that light only comes on with the lights.
  11. Check your CV boots also. I would also go for a new subaru T stat as long as you are draining the system, but it does sound like a clogged radiator. Are you the original owner?
  12. My car would bog on occasion till i changed the front O2 sensor. Give it a full tuneup also including a PCV valve.
  13. If the wheel cylinder itself and everything behind the drum is dry, I would suspect you do not need cylinders. That said, the car being a 2002 a brake fluid flushing would be in order. replace the hardware? if the shoes are wearing evenly i only would if the kit was on sale. Replace ball joints in pairs, as if one is bad the other will not be too far behind. Are you doing this work yourself or is a shop?
  14. Does the starter just spin if you were reattach everything right now? Sounds like this can either be a faulty solenoid or faulty iggy switch, but usually it is the solenoid. I think this is just coincidence.
  15. lets recheck some things: Does your spedo work? Do you have an ATF temp light when the car is turned "on" Does the same light flash on startup? Do you have a check engine light on What does your fluid look and smell like?
  16. http://deq.mt.gov/Recycle/Where-to-Recycle_New.mcpx does that help?
