  1. The cars are the same for engine swap, this I know for sure,, I'm not sure if the manual trans will work without changing drive shaft or tranny mounts
  2. Taking my 2.2 motor and manual trans from 96 legacy any putting in 98 outback with 2.5 auto trans. Is my manual trans the same length as the auto?... What changes do o need to make?
  3. I bought a 98 outback to put a motor in, I noticed it still rolls in park...help!
  4. I bought a nice 98 legacy outback with a bad 25 to but my strong 22 in, I have a good 5 spd but would like to use the auto trans that's in it. I noticed when I got it home that it still rolls when in park, and to get it out of park I have to disengage the shiftlock thru the little hole, I hear the relay click when I push the button on the shifter, but it won't come out of park...what do I do??
  5. What??...that's strange. When I took the original crank sprocket off that motor to put on another one I used the the little triangle on the crank and the small line on each cam and it ram fine...so I did the same thing with the one off the the 2.5...but it's not working
  6. The cam sprockets are not the issue, I removed the "crank" sprocket from the 2.2 to put on another motor. Now i have a "crank" sprocket from a 2.5 double over head cam motor as a replacement, and now it won't run
  7. Thanks, I know the the timing belt won't wok (two less cams).. Lol. The reason I ask about the crank sprocket is I removed the one from the 2.2 to put on another car with a 2.2 that I sold thinking I could use the one off the bad 2.5 to replace it, but the 2.2 won't run now with this sprocket, i did notice it had more tabs for the sensor then the one that was on it
  8. Thanks a lot for the help!. The 2.5 has at very least bent valves, I bought the outback for a song with motor damage, plus I've not heard good things about that 2.5 dohc. I know the 2.2 is a much more reliable choice. My 2.2 motor is in a wrecked car but was well kept and runs strong. Do you know if the crank sprocket for the timing belt from the 2.5 dohc will work on the 2.2 sohc??
  9. PLESE HELP!!! I have a 1998 legacy outback auto trans 2.5 dohc, it has a bad motor. Taking 2.2 sohc from 1996 legacy Brighton 5 speed. Wanting to know what issues I will have, also will the crank sprocket from the 2.5 work on the 2.2??...
  10. Will a crank sprocket for timing belt off a 1998 2.5 dohc work on a 1996 2.2 sohc???
