  1. This guy seems to have faded away. I did manage to get 1 shipment of parts from him but he no longer returns calls or msgs.
  2. Since I've rebuilt my 78 Brat I've used it quite a bit. Put probably around 1000 miles on it or so. If I had AC I would most likely drive it every day. But without AC, I can't show up to work all sweaty so until that day comes. It's only used for weekends.
  3. Alright, I've been looking for so long for an EA71 AC system I can install in my Brat. Guess I'll keep looking.
  4. Not really sure so I figure I'd ask the guru's around here. Can I easily make an EA81/2 AC system work on my EA71 Brat?
  5. So I've got the 78 Brat pretty much completed. Just a few things I need to take care of here and there. I've been driving it around quite often and now that I have a working Odometer I will finally be able to figure out how many MPG I get. My rough estimate is about 30-31 MPG. Which is pretty good but I know we can do better. Is there any transmission I can get that will bolt up and give me a 5th gear? I bet if it had an extra gear I would be able to drive around and get maybe close to 40. What options are out there? Whats the best MPG I would be able to get?
  6. Its from a 1978 Brat. Not sure what the Legacy EJ22 used, could you post a picture? If it might fit I'll take it. I would be suprised if Subaru didn't use the same connectors across multiple models for years.
  7. So I know when I use my high beams, the fuse block gets very hot. So hot in fact that it looks like at one point in time there may have been some melting involved. I pulled it aparat to get a closer look and this is what I found. Untitled by blue03wrx, on Flickr Untitled by blue03wrx, on Flickr I bought brand new, correct fuses. I wire brushed the actual contacts on the fuse block, and tightened up the fingers that hold the actual fuses in place. Now that all of that has been cleaned up, I need to track down another connector to try to replace the partially melted one I've got. I already checked RockAuto and I can't seem to find anything. Does anyone have any locations that might have the connector I can buy?
  8. In order to install these LED lights, I would need to notch the factory bowl just a little so that the light itself sits inside it deep enough. I'd rather not cut out a notch so unfortuntly I will keep looking. In the mean time, I'll be selling the both. They work great, and are VERY bright but I just don't want to cut a notch out of my factory head light bowl. They will be for sale soon. Also, I dove into my wiring harness a little bit this weekend.   9. Thanks for all the replies. I had my dad look at the wires and he said they should have no problem carrying the current through the electrical system. I was worried this was causing the fuse block under the dash to heat up. Which at this point, is still heating up but I have no idea where the issue is. My next step is to hook the 8 gauge wire that I ran into the cabin up to the + side on the lowest fuse connector. Replacing the factory power wire.
  10. I don't believe those are jackman wheels. Looks more like the oem subaru wagon wheels (that are similar to jackman wheels) to me.
  11. So when I got my Brat, I saw this little dinky set of wires and noticed they were pretty beat up. From what I can read from the FSM, I can trace one of them back into the interior fuse panel, the lowest fuse. I also noticed that when I turn my high beam lights on the lowest fuse on the fuse panel gets extremly hot to the touch (I turn off the high beams before either the fuse pops or the fuse panel itself melts). Is there any way I can replace the wires coming out of the plastic plugs? Is there a new piece I can buy from rockauto? What is it even called? Some guidance would be apprciated.   12. So I was thinking about upgrading my high beams. First of all, sealed beam headlights do not throw enough light for me. Secondly, the wiring in the car is very old so using the factory high beams is very taxing on the electrical system. I just received the replacement High/Low LED headlights which should be a direct drop in replacement. More pictures to come but for now I'll leave this here: Untitled by blue03wrx, on Flickr
  13. Can this company also whip up some rubber for the doors? The rubber that makes the door seal when closed.
  14. I was able to cut the plastic tip enough to pop it into the other speedometer housing. And voila! It works! I'm going to try to buy another full speedometer though so I have a spare.

  17. Got some new pictures. The other day I actually used it as a truck! Needed to transport my air compressor. Well needless to say the wheels had all sorts of grime on them. So after a pretty good de-greasing and cleanup, my dad and I painted them with some high temp enamel paint.   18. CA, you still have to smog it as long as it was built after 1975. Ask me how I know.
  19. I ended up taking the Brat to an upholstery guy and had him redo the entire interior. Much better choice to go that route in my opinion.
