Mine has individual pipes coming off each head, that goes straight back into a single cat and out the back. Very clean setup. Much nicer than any stock system you will find in a junkyard or on a donor car.

Take it over to an exhaust shop and have them give you a quote.

Thanks, it's been a lot of hard work. As for the carpet, I originally bought a molded kit but the company sent me a kit for what I think may have been a gen 2 car, rather than the gen 1 brat. Regardless I had my interior guy do the carpet himself. Came out very nice. Really the only thing left to do on my list is buy some rear seat seat belts.

Just an fyi. I bought this from him after he posted it. I've been using it for a while now and ever since I installed it the odometer doesn't really work. Everything else does just fine though. NOW his user name starts to make a bit more sense to me. 1 post (to sell his "mint" cluster), with a username of "brokenodo", short for "broken odometer" I assume. Would have been nice if it wasn't broken, but oh well.

question on jump seats
spicypeanut replied to d8usti5n's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I went directly through the lower mounting bar. Once I had 3 of the bolts tightened down I felt the bracket and it was already rock solid. The extra 3 I ran and the seats aren't going anywhere. -
question on jump seats
spicypeanut replied to d8usti5n's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I just did this very thing. 6 Grade 8 Bolts through the bed and they jump seats can be removed fairly easily. Even had my engineer friend verify it would be structurally safe. -
What Transmission did I just buy?
spicypeanut replied to spicypeanut's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Ah dang! Thought I came up on something useful. -
Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Can anyone tell me what transmission I have sitting in front of me? I was told it was for a Brat but really, that's all I know. Weber Carb and Emmisions, EA71
spicypeanut replied to spicypeanut's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
My Weber Carb equip EA71 (now with a catalytic converter) has passed the CA Smog test. No de-tuning needed. -
Thanks, they really came out perfect. I actually didn't make them myself. I went to the local Mobile Fantasy, whom I've gone to for my STI and my fathers truck. Sort of made friends with the installers over there so I don't mind paying a little more. They cost me about $130 or so. Sure, I'll try to get some pictures in the next few days. I originally wanted to put the bolts further apart but was unable to based on the way the truck bed is constructed underneath. But even with the bolts being about 1.5 inches apart, the seats are not going anywhere.

I'm following this, I've been wondering the same thing. Apparently my tire guy said the biggest tire I can put on my 13" wheel are 175/70/13. Which is pretty weak.

Weber WOT on start up

Here is what I'm talking about. -
Weber WOT on start up

I experienced my throttle stick wide open a few times, then I changed out the old throttle return spring and it's been happy ever since. Basically it does what you think it does. The spring pulls the carburator closed when you take your foot off the gas pedal. If you don't have one, get one asap. -
UPDATE: The rear seats are now officially installed. 6 Grade 8 bolts, nuts, washers, and lock washers and these bad boys are firmly secured! I also had a pretty expensive catalytic converter installed, as well as new exhaust tips. It sounds good and looks great! I'll have to take a new shot of it tomorrow. My LED dome light came in the mail today so now nearly all of the lights on this car have been converted over to LED.
