  1. You would use the Weber air filter housing. It won't fit with the original ea71 air cleaner. Unless you modify it. Which is what a few people have done. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/142864-1978-subaru-brat-from-death-to-life-and-everything-in-between/page-7?do=findComment&comment=1279470
  2. Just confirmed another shipment of great parts, which includes more original AC stuff.
  3. Would that box be the same as this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/VR145-Voltage-Regulator-1977-1981-SUBARU-MOST-MODELS-N-O-S-/350939088263?fits=Make%3ASubaru%7CModel%3ABrat&hash=item51b5998587:g:LoAAAMXQWzNSlEz2&vxp=mtr It goes without saying if the gauge warning lights don't come on now I would check all the fuses and grounds. Maybe playing with the different electronics boxes blew a fuse. My first through about it running rough would be to make sure the carb is in good working order. I know on my Model T we had just rebuilt it but it didn't run right and we pulled it back apart only to find that the new float wasn't working correctly. It might be worth checking once you get the electrical issue solved. -Vaughn
  4. Good post, I saw this on Jalopnik today.
  5. a little rust on some of the metal but 100% complete... Untitled by blue03wrx, on Flickr
  6. I haven't gone to the tire place after all this time. Still using the tires that came with the Brat when I got it. Although I should really deceide what rims to use...
  7. Not much of an update but I'm expanding my parts collection. It was like Christmas Untitled by blue03wrx, on Flickr And unwrapped... Untitled by blue03wrx, on Flickr
  8. That is great, congrats! When I took my Brat last year, it was my Brat, another White Brat and a 360 van. There was no appropriate class for us.
  9. Yup, just get the kit and hook it all up. If you want bonus points, hook it up so that all of the breather lines go back to where they were with the stock carb (but using the weber).
  10. I better not take the brat to jccs this year. i wont have a chance of anything compared to you! Very nicely done.
  11. Let's meet up. I'm in the Sanfernando Valley, Chatsworth.
  12. I've seen semi-restored Brats sell for upwards of 13k. So his asking price would be fair considering.
  13. I don't have heads for you but I was curious about the AMR kit. Can you point me in the direction for that kit?
  14. I'd like to know the biggest size tire we could run on a otherwise stock gen 1 brat without rubbing.
  15. I've got a set, a bit tired but a nice coat of paint and it would bring them back somewhat. You would be best with that set on ebay. Or maybe I would part with my set.
  16. Strip everything off of it, sell the parts or keep them as a stash. Then junk the chassis.
  17. I know mine is an EA71 but the same principle could be used with the EA82 air cleaner. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/142864-1978-subaru-brat-from-death-to-life-and-everything-in-between/?p=1279470
  18. Not sure if this is legit or not but the tv show shipping wars, I believe they use https://www.uship.com/ . I know the show is pretty much scripted but the shipping website looks real. EDIT: I was just curious so I put a quick quote for a 81 (oldest year they have listed) subaru dl. https://www.uship.com/quotes/view.aspx?c=79&z1=33131&z2=90012&country1ID=1&country2ID=1&a_year=1981&a_make=63&a_model=18393&a_running=true&qrid=554b9e68c8ab1633a4959f74
  19. What colors do they come in? Are the colors just painted on or are they powder coated?
  20. Just saw this. The guy says he has tail lights. I'd contact right away: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/153214-brat-jump-seats/ Doesn't say if its gen 1 or gen 2. But worth looking into.
  21. Welcome to the forum. You will be in for quite a ride with your new Brat. I've got a bunch of factory service manuals and booklets that detail the repair and replace process. Let us know what you need and I'll do what I can to best answer questions.
  22. monkbonk, I would certainly not lose faith in the forum just because of this experience. I contacted iluvdirt and he was very prompt and respectful when I asked about the lights he had for sale. As soon as I saw his for sale thread, I contacted him directly. I'm always on the lookout for parts. He sent me pictures the same day, very quick. I didn't really want to spend the money so I didn't buy them. Flash forward about a day and a half. I messaged him asking if they were still available. He said yes, so I made an offer. That's it. iluvdirt was always very nice and respectful. There's a saying I've heard for many years. "Strike when the iron is hot." I don't feel like the seller did anything wrong. In my experience too many potential buyers only reply to a thread rather than contacting a seller directly. In the future I would suggest contacting the person directly rather than just replying to a thread. I've seen a couple posts about gen 1 brat items recently. I've purchased things from scooner in the past and I would not hesitate to recommend him if he had parts you need. I would contact him right away to see if he still has the lights. I know he had a couple things that weren't listed so it doesn't hurt to ask. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/152197-gen-1-brat-parts/page-2 I know I've seen a few other for sale threads that might have what you need. If I come across them I will be sure to direct you to them. For as long as I've been a member here I've only had positive experiences. Everyone seems like they help each other solve issues, or find parts. I've contacted members after they posted something they saw at a pick-a-part in their state. They went back, bought the parts, and mailed them to me. If that doesn't speak volumes to the quality people on this forum I don't know what does. PM me your contact info as when I come across a set I will pass the info along to you. EDIT: I did a quick search and came across some possible leads. I would start by contacting this place. It sounds like they may have exactly what you need. And since lights are relativly small, you can easily have them shipped. http://twinfalls.craigslist.org/ptd/4958264189.html This guy might be willing to part with the lights on the car since it looks fairly stripped already. http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/4982412756.html We will get you the parts you need. Don't worry. Edit Again. Just chatted with scooner, he already sold the tail lights he had for sale.
