  1. I have seen a few maybe 4 of those "star edition" coupes over the years, one is currently running around Lyons, Colorado from time to time. One thing I've noticed is they all had the H style rims with a different centercap than most, as seen in the pics posted above. (I think most of the h style c-caps have "subaru" on them but the star edition had a diamond pattern on them). The xx/50 implies that there were only 50 of them, but that would make it unlikely that I would have come acrossed 4 of the 50. If they were really used to shuttle beauty queens around, that's pretty darned bueno. I noticed you called it "starfire". Was that a mistake or is your car badged differently?
  2. my first soob was a 1980 std hatch. It was 4 wheel drive and had square headlights! I think after that year they always had round headlights and were fwd, but a I most certainly could be wrong about that. I saw one other 1980 std that was identicle to mine being used as a runaround at a junkyard. I still see later models showing up at jy's from time to time.
  3. I have one in my shed, you won't get a pic from me though. Funny story, about 3 or 4 years ago somebody who shall go nameless (it was shawn W) and myself pulled a pefect dash out of a junkyard ea81. If you done it you know it's a pain in the rump roast. Then he knocked over our wheelbarrow with the dash on it and messed it up pretty good. we left it there.
  4. And yes there is consequence, you can fry your new alternator. You should replace the VR. The stock ones were little gold box shaped things about 4 inches by 3 inches with a sizeable round plastic harness connector.
  5. Starters from impreza era cars bolt up to ea81s? I didn't know that. very cool.
  6. So then all electronic distys for ea71s and ea81s are interchangable?
  7. It is an ea82, which is an 1800cc overhead cam engine. Just to be sure that the previous owner didn't swap in a jaguar straight six, EA82 should be stamped on the front top of the block, just left of center as you look at it from the front of the car upon popping the hood.
  8. The fuel pump runs off of the alternator on those old ones, It's a "safety feature". If you are not charging right at the alt, your fuel pump can and will stop getting a signal. You can trouble shoot this by hotwiring your fuel pump when you encounter the problem. The logic behind this setup is that if you were to crash and cut the fuel line, the pump will not continue to spew gas all over the place because without the engine running, ie the alternator spinning, the pump gets no signal.
  9. You are incorrect. The "greenies" have only (re)introduced moose on the Grand Mesa in CO (12 cows 25 bulls total). (actually it was the CDOW that did it). The rest of the moose are here on there very own accord. Always have been, and their numbers are increasing in a lot of areas. In fact if those greenies had there way, they would introduce wolves into RMNP, drastically reducing the success of the moose in and around the park, where their population is currently exploding. And no I am not a "greenie" nor do I want wolves to be reintroduced here, I just get a kick out of these things. You know, someone hits a moose, so someone takes the opportunity to kick a hippy in the nuts. Where was this, Zyewdall? And one more thing for the record. The first planting of Moose on the Mesa was 3 individuals that were originally captured right here in colorful Colorado. Most of the others were caught in Utah.
  10. They are, some of that info isn't right, mainly all pre '80 cars are gen 1 and brats up to including 81
  11. receives information for upcoming missions via sattelite
  12. Hey Zeke! Down here in Lyons we got about......0". It rained for three days! Carol and I drove up to Estes on Sunday and there was a solid 24" still at Allenspark and Meeker Park. We got nothing. I bet I don't live 15 miles from you as the crow flies. Elevation is everything! The river sure did get high here today!
  13. Actualy I ment that when you take off your winter tires, you will get snow the following day! still a nace looking car, and those wheels look great.
  14. Beautiful car! snow coming tomorrow......
  15. Nay! The silver wagon in my driveway is super sweet. Stop and look it over sometime. DannyC I agree, I can tell you from what I saw It wasn't worth that much, But whatever, maybe somebody who REALLY wants a brat will see it. Jerry, do you know if the guy has another brat, cause there is a pretty nice green brat parked at a house up here. 1,600 people live in this town and I think half of them own old Subarus!
  16. That's the one. I assume he lives up here. Is he on the USMB? Subiemech, it's not eyesore, I dunno where that guy is, last I heard he was working at a subie dealership near Denver. Zeke I'm not collecting them, they are just breeding in my driveway! DannyC- price on the window is $2300. If your interested I could grab the # off the window for you. PM me if you want it.
  17. Just wondering if somebody here owns the brat for sale at the U-pump-It in Lyons. I don't want to buy it, just wondering. Saw it has a weber, made me think maybe somebody here owns it. I'm the guy who drives the gen one camo wagon. Hi neighbor.
  18. I think you've got that backwards. It is worth as much as a buyer will pay for it. You, as the seller may think it has more value, but that is a figure that only means something to YOU. You can say it's worth a million dollars because that is what you will "let it go for", but get real. It's worth whatever someone will pay you for it.
  19. you might (should) have a sticker under the hood that has a vacuum diagram.
  20. In Excelent shape I would say $1000 to $1500. That will very from area to area. I am in CO.
  21. I think what turbone was saying is that without swapping the heads, you will have a high compresion turbo engine. The ea81 turbo engines had lower compression heads than the n/a engines. I would assume ea82 was the same. What you are talking about doesn't seem like a reasonable way to get a little extra oomph. swap the whole engine and harness or you will most likely create a high maintenance nightmare.
  22. A gen one ea71 4 wheel drive clutch and p-plate should be the same as a gen two 1600 front wheel drive clutch and p-plate, correct?
