  1. if anyone going to the meet is interested, i have four 15" pug alloys with centercaps and lug nuts. i'd like $125, and if you would like them i could get them to the meet for you even though i probobly won't be there.
  2. anyone know what font the outback badge is (not the 05 but the older ones)? more important, anyone have it (truetype) perchanse you could email it to meatpile@earthlink.net
  3. the gutter mount towers are the 1A ones. you can use Qtowers which are for gutters or non gutters. they take clips specific to the car, not sure if the 1A ones do, too. controll towers mount to the factory racks. i have a set of i think 1A towers that would be ready to mount to a gen 3 car if you're interesed. i got them off a 91ish wagon at a junkyard, but you would need new "locks" as i broke them to get them off the car. actually they should still be usable, but not a theft deterent anymore.
  4. the jets are interchangable. i don't know about that fitting sticking out the side.
  5. i recently put a 3" ozified lift on a hatch and had the same problem. this hatch was originally 2wd, so the 4wd lever was not mounted stock. so i moved the 4wd lever (drilled new holes in the driveshaft hump) so that the lever took a higher road. then i could get it into reverse. it's harder in 4wd , espesially low. i really think fixing the shifter slop will fix the problem. there have been posts on the slop topic. search it out to fix it. before you do anything, i would take the one 16mm (i think) nut off the 4wd linkage under the console and separate the two parts of the lever. then you can play around with where the lever needs to be to let you shift into reverse. hope that helps.
  6. i'd be into a utah meet-up anywhere from vernal to powell. moab or canyonlands? plenty o blm land to romp on.
  7. i posted about this before , and was asked for pics. this is the bottom of a head from a supposedly JDM engine you can see the sleeve or whatever you want to call it is seriously in trouble. what to do? i want to use this head, cause i was told it is not your run of the mill ea71 head. maybe it aint. but whatever. can you (not really you, but somebody who can work on heads) get in there and remove that entire lining? i imagine that would make for better flow. edit: forgot the pic: http://img60.exs.cx/img60/4968/exportbad.jpg
  8. your spelling is better than mine.
  9. great story. any pics of the redhead? those wagon wheels, are they painted silver or are they chrome? i can't believe you drove that far w/out plates. when i was 21 i drove from CO to NY on a motorcycle w/out a motorcycle liscense! day 2 in NY i'm busted and held on outstandindg warrents. my son was in the womb at the time back in CO. that trip didn't end as good as yours. nice looking hatch.
  10. well over a week ago i installed a 3" lift in my 80 hatch with much appreciated help from my friend matt and recent colorado interloper ShawnW. (shawn really deserved extra cheese on his burger for the experience he lent to this. he did more work than me, yet i keep the car. that's why i'm the sucker king.) this is a public testamonial for p.k. davis and ozified lift kits. i am THRILLED with this kit. it is simple and well built. i waited for over a week to post this cause i wanted to make sure the kit was field tested. so this weekend i went to moffat county near dinosaur national monument and drove around. oh what fun. i put 500 miles on my car this weekend, about 100 of those on blm and usfs roads. no problems whatsoever. the world of subaru has changed for me. thanks p.k.!
  11. hi mister toybuilder, am i going? definately maybe but probobly not. i'll get the wheels this week and i'll call you. okay? okay.
  12. sorry to hijack, but has anyone been down to CAP recently who could say if that 76 wagon is still there? it's over an hour drive for me.
  13. it sounds like your break pad is rattling. there are little clips that hold them in place. if you lost one or two, they will rattle. i don't think it is at all dangerous, just annoying.
  14. what color was the interior? what condition? get any pics? woohoo! that lot turns over fairly quick. anyone know if it's still there?
  15. excuse my ignorance, but what are "the RAM performance dual port heads?"
  16. i want interior trim from the wagon. what color is the interior?
  17. eric, i sent you an email. get back to me or let me know if you didn't get it. thanks, john
  18. no, no, i have not taken this personally, nor have meant anything personally. this guy asked for opinions, and that's what he is getting. still to suggest this car is worth $50 is rediculous in my OPINION. although i realize i am the only one to have seen it. the general is correct. it depends what you're looking for. this car may not fit the bill for this guy. i acknowledged that in the original post. i was asked if i knew of anything for sale, and that was my answer. when i look at old subarus, the one thing that is the most important to me is the body, as it is the one thing that can't be fixed. i paid $450 for a 1980 hatch 2wd auto with a bad tranny but no rust. what an idiot right? it's now a 4wd d/r w/ only 130k and i am sure it's the best purchase i have ever made as far as cars go. i haven't seen a rust free hatch for sale in my area since (2 years). also consider this: suppose the deal was this car as is and a second car, a running rusty 4wd wagon for $600 total, then a good deal? you could build one hell of a car from it. well according to a lot of people here, the $100 rusty runner is easy to find, so this deal is really no different from that. did that make sense or have i rambled too long? i'm not offended here, it's just that i've heard people on this board say they would never pay more then $50 bucks for an lsd ar $200 for a brat, etc. the truth is these things are worth whatever you can get for them, and this guy will get $500 for this car. since he's not actively selling it, in a year or so he'll probobly get it from me.
  19. mr wasteland, i'm going up to moffat county the weekend of the 27th if you want to hook up. i'll be fishing the mighty yampa.actually not so mighty 50 cubic feet a second at maybell. if you want to hook up with the pushbar, get in touch. john
  20. it doesn't matter to me if this guy buys this car or not, there is no money in it for me. but i'd like to say this. this car is beautiful, virtually rust free, every panel straight and that is rare. it is not a $50 car or even a $200 car. sometimes it drives me nuts when everybody on this board likes to downplay the value of our cars, really it's just cause we're a bunch of tightasses who know how to find stuff for LESS than it's worth. i would pay the $500 as is price for this car if my wife would let me right now. in my opinion it is a fair price. you can DEFINATELY find a cheaper wagon, but it won't look like this. if you were to find that beautiful subaru for mere pennies, more power to you. but don't hold your breath.
  21. to do the four wheel drive conversion you could take the tranny (a manual), driveshaft, rear suspension plus some other goodies from my junkwagon and put them in the gl 10. converting to manual 4wd will work just fine, and since the wagon is an auto, you won't have to cut or bang like you might have to if it started out as a 2wd manual (the auto tranny is wider than the manual and the cars body accomodates that. search 4wd conversion cause some people have posted complete parts lists, all of which could come from the junkwagon. as far as getting it home, either trailor it or you could put the engine in down here and drive it. one benefit to doing all this is you would know the car inside and out when you're done. i would like to see this car go to a good home, cause it's so damn nice. i'll get pics for you if you want, and i'll check to see if it is indeed a 2wd auto. ea81 gl-10s are pretty rare by the way.
