Greg, Thaks a lot! Nothing like pictures to tell the story. I have saved the pictures for my referencing. And you have a great looking Brat! Someday I will be passing through CO and we need to meet up at that time. Looking forward to the -

Ok, I just now thought of another question that I probably should have thought of earlier but didn't. When installing the seat belts, do the rollup ones go on the outside next to the bed walls or the inside or are they always on the passenger's left or right? -

Greg, Thanks a lot! That is all the measurements that I need. It is good to get those numbers on the board as I expect there are others that can also use the information. Again, thanks a lot! -

I don't have an interest, but I would recommend posting its availability in the For Sale section as that is where people look to see what is available. There was a person that was looking for just the frame and was willing to pay freight not too long ago. -

Yes, that helps alot. That locates the outside seat belts. How far from that anchor to the one for the inside belt? thanks, -

Now I need the location of the seat belt bolts. If someone can measure from the wall and from the front of the bed to the center of the bolt hole on one side and then the spacing across to each of the other bolt locations it would be great. I can then properly locate the belts in the stock locations. Prefer to not be guessing. Thank you, -

Thank you for the recommendations. At present I am planning on attaching them in six places to the bed. I will be welding the six "feet" that remained on my seat frames to plates and then the plates will be welded to the bed of the Brat. It will be as strong as the original installation. But I still don't know how far from or close to the rear wall of the bed to place them. -
Getting ready to install the seats. I have done some searching and understand that the bracket that holds the bottom of the head restrant bar is absent from my Brat. Does anyone have a set (or one) of the brackets available. If not, can someone point me to a drawing or picture of the bracket. Seat location: obviously they need to be centered left to right, but can someone give me a dimenstion to locate the seats front to back. How many inches from the front wall to what part of the seat frame? Seat belt attachment: same questions. I am about 100 miles from my Brat so I will not be able to go look at it until the middle of next week. Anything else I should know? Thank you,

Jessekrs123's 1984 Subaru BRAT
RedBrat replied to Jessekrs123's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hang in there! I should be in your area some time late spring, early summer next year and I will make it happen. By the way, I have seen another person out of WA who had a Brat as a tow vehicle so I am not the only one. In the attached picture I am in the coach on the left passing the other coach. -

I have just read this entire thread. The OP has done a tremendous job with his Brat. I compliment him on his perserverance and his troubleshooting skills. I also want to compliment his parents for having brought him to this point. It didn't happen by accident. Yes, there is something about Subaru's in general and Brats in particular that can become addictive. I purchased my original Brat about 10 years ago and about a year later was able to secure my present Brat. It is bone stock. Keep up the good work and keep working on the rust and other little things as time and money allow. I have copied a few posts from this thread and saved them for my future reference. Mine serves as a tow vehicle behind my motorhome and as a fun casual driver. You have reindpired me to do a few more things to mine. I have subscribed to this thread so keep it coming. -
I went back to this site and his Home page and from there was able to locate some more pictures. Again, thank you very much. RedBrat, 1987 Red Brat, 112,000 miles.

The drilling holes issue is one that I do relate to. That is one of the reasons that they have not been installled to this date but I have at this point decided to go ahead and install them. the key is to do it properly. That is why I am researching it prior to doing anything.

Thank you. I think that is the picture I saw a number of years ago.

I have a set of the chrome hand rails that I would like to install on my "87 Brat, but I don't know the proper placement. Can anyone direct me to either drawings or pictures of a Brat with the hand rails installed. A number of years ago I saw a few pictures but I don't know whose Brat it was so I can't go the proper album. Thanks, RedBrat, Cottage Grove, OR

No salt is used on the roads in Oregon so no rust. Same in most of California.

On Friday, July 25th at 11:45 am I saw a nice dark blue GL Brat pass me (I was driving a truck pulling a large piece of farm equipment). I was southbound on Hwy 99 and he turned off on the Briggsmore/Carpenter road exit. Looked like he was going to go south on Carpenter. Was it a Board member?

I really, really want your ru bar! Beats anything here state side. And it would bolt onto my brat.

Need Good Advice for Sale of 85 Brat
RedBrat replied to mikenivanna's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I don't know about the original poster's brat, but I just saw one here in the Central Valley that only has 75,000 miles on it. It has a few small dings, but it's a "shine and drive" '85 unit. If someone does want a long term keeper this is the type to get. Read the Rust Threads, then tell me what a clean, no rust, low milage unit is worth. I don't know, but I wouldn't sell mine for what I paid for it. I would want double at least. -
My distributor is still working but starting to make sounds like a buzzing bee. Does anyone have a recommended source for a rebuilt unit? I prefer to replace rather than rebuild myself. It is for an '87 Brat.

I also have a Red Brat and I am just up the road from you. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=11828&si=redbrat There is one other Brat, grey, here in Dixon.
