Cvs are good , might be a hub tho for sure if one broke the otherswouldn't work would it ?

i have an 84 gl wagon and my rear wheel drive works perfectly in high and low range but when i put it in 2wd the front will not work !!!!!! i foun a rod that goes to the front from the 4wd stick and ive moved it in all directions and posible configurations but i just cant fgure this out . and help would be great !!!!
