Any of these have airbags?
TheWanderer replied to comatosellama's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Almost certain you won't find a DL/GL/Loyale with airbags. You would do better finding a mid 90s legacy or impreza if you need airbags. I ***think*** they started putting them in around the 94-95 model year as a standard option, but don't quote me on that. I know my 92 SVX had them (driver side at least), and my 97 Legacy Outback wagons had them (again, driver side only iirc). -
Old Subarus Wanted for TV Show!

I'm not in any of those states, but if you are looking to expand your search I'd gladly volunteer my car. She's begging for a restore, perfect candidate for it I think (low miles, relatively rust free, and doesn't need much to bring her back to her former glory) http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/148857-fsft-88-dl-3-door-coupe-95xxx-miles-750-obo-kearney-ne/ -
Well, its gone. She sold it yesterday before I had the chance to get up there Which one of you mooks snatched it out from under me? All kidding aside, I'm sure the new owner will be happy

Horn turns off radio...
TheWanderer replied to Subarocket's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What he said In my car when I hit the wipers, the radio signal fades out (come to think of it, all my subaru's did this... ) -
A few rolls? In this case it'd probably be more like a dozen lol. It's pretty bad honestly, but not nearly as bad as it was. I took to just rubbing my feet across the carpet (like one would if they wanted to build up a static charge and zap someone) and was pulling pancake sized balls of hair up. With as much hair as was in the shop vac today, I'd swear this was a rolling dog house

Well, if all goes accordingly, I may be heading to pick this up this weekend. Meeting up tomorrow with a buyer for my 88 DL and once I get that sold I'll be on the road to grab this. Then its time to pack her to the gills and put Nebraska in my rear view

Hey guys, was out cleaning the DL today trying to get it ready for a new owner to take over. The original owner (and last owner as well) had dogs and the interior is full of hair. I shop vac'd probably 5 lbs of it out today but can't seem to get the rest up. I'm almost certain the interior would look excellent if I could just get that damn hair up lol. I don't have an upholstery brush attachment for the shop vac, so I'm limited by resources... Whats the best way you guys have found to get pet hair out of your interiors? I've never seen it this bad before (and thats after about an 85% improvement)...

Thats my plan Miles I come from PA originally, try finding one of these in this shape back there...dollars to donuts its not gonna happen, they all ended up in the scrap pile from rusting out before the drivetrain died...

Corner marker lens - $10 Front grill - $10 Thats pretty much how I see it. However I already have 3 new tires coming, can get a battery for cheaper than $65, and have a friend with a welder I can use to fix exhaust. Someone just needs to come buy my 88 DL first lol Only problem is we don't have many pick and pulls around this area, and none of the ones I've been to have these older sube's. Everything there is OBDII or very close to the switchover (with exception to the classic section full of 40's-60's domestics). So basically any parts I'd need would come from forum members

You suck That's the same one I'm looking at. In O-town right? >_< lol Did ya end up getting it? How bad is it if not? The lady told me 115k miles when I talked to her the other afternoon and that it ran and drove and would get me back to Kearney without any problems... I've been waiting for a buddy of mine in the area to get back to me, he was gonna go check it out for me. Are you looking for an older sube? I'm probably gonna end up selling my 88 DL 3 door if you are interested. I would rather have this wagon honestly and don't mind putting a bit of work into it. 95k original miles, Colorado car originally...Not pretty but runs great and has had a lot of stuff repaired that was neglected since I bought it. Shoot me a PM if interested, lets get together if you are close by and you can check it out. I'd also like to pick your brain on this car even more. I'm pretty much sold on buying it, I need a wagon like yesterday.

86 GL wagon questions
TheWanderer replied to TheWanderer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Really only considering it because I want the wagon over my 3 door coupe. I have a queen sized bed and a recliner that I need to haul west with me when I leave, and the wagon would give me a much better chance at actually doing that. The fact that its a 5 sp d/r is a bonus since I've wanted one over this fwd DL since buying it, and can't justify putting the money out to do the swap. Its up in the air honestly. I'd hate to see my DL get parted out, especially with it only having 95k miles original on it. But I'd hate to leave it behind if I buy this wagon, knowing that I could use many of the parts in the future... -

TheWanderer replied to TheWanderer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thats pretty much how I was expecting to haul it if I get the wagon. When I drive 5 speed, I dont use my brakes anyhow, usually just downshift way in advance and coast to a stop (thats how I was taught, and every 5 speed I've had has only ever gone thru 1 set of brakes every 2-3 years, never blown a clutch). Its kinda up in the air at this point. If I can get it cheap enough I'm all over it. I talked to the lady tonight that has it, 115k miles on the car and it runs and drives. Going to call back tomorrow and see what the deal is, told her I'd be willing to come out next weekend and get it. Asking $650 but she doesn't seem to speak much english and doesn't know a lick about cars (hoping I can get it for around $300, and should be able to...) I've got a couple friends out in the area from another car group too, gonna see if one of them can run over and have a look see, check it out for me What should I expect to have to fix/replace/work on before taking it over the Rockies and the Cascades? -

Thats what I figured. I'd either have to granny drive the car and be extra careful, or I'd most likely end up burning the clutch out on the wagon if I pulled the DL behind it. The drive itself is gonna be 1500 miles roughly, and about 85% flat highway. Biggest thing that would scare me about puling another subie behind with the brakes is the up and down through the northern Rockies (more so the downhill part lol). I may end up just parting out the DL and keeping the stuff I need/want to haul in the wagon if I get it. Biggest thing is though, I want the wagon so I can haul my queen sized bed and a recliner, along with the rest of my stuff (clothes, etc) when I move. Plus it has the 5 sp d/r, which saves me having to dump the money into the DL to convert.
