  1. I belive the inner cv is the one with more splines on a turbo not the outer. that may be where the confusion is. there should be no problem swaping in a non turbo unit.
  2. I have a set too. no tires just the wheels. might cost a bit to ship. but I have not been banned from the board yet. im waiting for a nice set of big ol 15s to come in.
  3. right:rolleyes: short cuts. or usless exta steps. depends on how you look at it. I dont have time to spend spining a motor over for no reason. I get the same result by doing it a tried and proven method.
  4. when loking from the front at the motor. yes that will work.
  5. so today was the first day of TD04 conversion. first thing I noticed was that I was going to need a different location for the O2 sensor. it is currently in the down pipe but the wrx unit has it in the up pipe. no worries. I had an old up pipe that had cracked. it had an 02 bung in it unlike the one on the car now. I cut off the heat shields to find the leak. well I found it but I also found out how restricted the bend before the turbo is inside. :-\ ok so I will have to work on that too. well I decided modify the flange to accept the td04. I got it notched and my new "stud" welded in place. the turbo now bolts right up. so I am delayed while I wait for silicone elbows to come in and I need to make a bracket for the WRX intercooler. well at least the process is started. I do have detailed pics but cannot resize them properly.
  6. why would you want to over complicate the belt instal with all that turning over of the motor? how is the lower notch any harder to use than the top? you could probably figure it out with out the notch if you had to. I do agree that after install that its good to turn it over by hand and verify your alignment and belt tension.
  7. that car is sweet! I like the roof rack. all I can say about the cooling system is just keep flushing it. eventually it will come clean.
  8. I see you have done your research young. one you may snatch the pebble. uh yeah change the radiator your car will thank you 2 row best. 1 row still better than bunk old radiator. do what you can.
  9. as for answering your questions. Thats what we do here. I do recomend the search function too but some times its a bit tricky to find the answer you are looking for. just dont ask whats the fourmula for calculating the muffler bearing drag under a specific condition.
  10. there are some cheap sources on line that some of the guys use. I personaly use my local parts store. just request a 2row. the last one I got was a performance radiator the othor was somthing else. both were good quality. mine were less that 200$
  11. you need to avoid overheating at all costs. I would spend the cash and get a good 2 row replacement or at least a new 1 row. yeah the fins gradually dissapear and you dont cool as well. EA82 motors seem to be particularly sensitive to overheating(blown HGs and cracked heads) thats why I run the bigger 2 row radiator ,have an oil cooler, and im sure the intercooler helps too. but Im a turbo guy. we need to worry more.
  12. it should line up fairy close. but rember tey are just made out of plastic and are not super precise. its ok to turn the motor from the crank bolt but evin easier to just line up the second pully with the lower timing cover mark (look oposite the one at the top) and tension the belts.
  13. you know how I feel about it. go for it. I would be willing to help out with some custom produts.
  14. grossgary- I belive you are correct. I rember doing that on the ones I have done but it only takes just a tiny bit of sealant on a very clean surface. good point.
  15. I yanked the stupid little mirror off to reduce weight. works good now. it used to drop at every rail road crossing.
  16. get ready for joy and frustration. good luck.
  17. yeah I think 13ft lbs is probably too much for a 6mm bolt. the advice given already is great. you can use rtv on a water pump if you really need to(pitted block ect) but usually a gasket with a bit of permatex aviation sealant works just fine. I too have used rtv on the oil pump O ring before. You dont really want to though because it can squirt out into the pump area when tightening the bolts.
  18. argh... and I know how to dig holes and build fences too. can I just come and help paint it? shure looks like fun. theres that stupid wink again.
  19. its about heat ranges being correct. the resistance makes a differance. and the construction also determines the durability. I too swear by NGK on most all japan built cars and trucks. but I also have learned that cars like what came from the factory. Champion plugs are junk. but Dodges love em. they can actually set codes if the wrong plugs are used. delco plugs in a GM and yeah put whatever you want in a ford. They always seem to run funky.
  20. yeah sea foam is good stuff. its actually a whole line of products. but the only 2 I have used are the fuel system cleaner and carbon cleaner. oh also the penitrating oil is the best. better than yield or pen. I hear that the techron is good too. I have used it before. red line makes a fuel system cleaner too.
  21. Man I am jelous.:-\ I paid 500$ for mine with a blown HG. and I do not have the LSD. yeah I have pulled the up pipe out before in car. I did it like turbone described. welding it in the car is really hard. I tried that once. never again. the factory up pipe has too many heat shields and layers to weld in an awkward position. and its definately easyer to pull the up pipe than the turbo. still mad at you for such a good find. and how does your wife let you keep all those cars. we have only 2 runners and 2 dead (projects) right now and she complains still. but she love to borrow the wagon. it all about having a good sterio system. she loves that along with the turbo.
  22. yeah something like that. ok so I found what I needed at decent price. here. http://www.turbohoses.com/ they have some really sweet prouducts. acually rated for much higher temps than most silicone hose. easy to use site and local to me:D still cost an arm and a leg but its going to be sweet when its all together.
  23. thanks Tex. I will check it out right now. you ever wonder why its cool to "wink;) " on a message board at other people but in real life you would get looked at like a frikin wierdo? ok they dont have any thing close to what I need. any others?
  24. I have been looking around for silicone hose. I found some places. but not many carry the sizes I am looking for. I rember someone(tex?) posted a link a long time ago on a good source that was reasonably priced. I am looking for some 90deg elbows 2.25 and 2 3/8 sizes. any help would be greatly appreciated.
