  1. 208k miles on the turbo wagon. shootin for 300+
  2. I already got wens. off but I will see if I can change it to tues. if we make a day of this lets hit a bigger resort. espically since the snow should be frickin deeeep by then. it was 2 ft of nice powder at kirkwood last friday. more to come. what about dodge ridge? its not to expensive and although its at a low elavation it should get a good dump out of this storm. Its also right between us. I will check the conditions later in the week but as of now things look good all over our area. stormtroopers computer is down and out right now. I will try to talk to him tomarow.
  3. I have 208,000 on the gl10 turbo wagon. only 15,000 on the motor. dont know much history on it as It came from a friend who only owned it a short while and blew the head gasket then drove it 300 miles home:(
  4. just found out about this from donald (stormtrooper) Im down for boarding on wends. I still need to get the day off but if this is a sure thing I can do it. just need to know by tomarow. happy b day junkie. do you still have those wheels?
  5. I would say that the cooling system( radiator, hoses, T stat, fan Ect) are verry improtant items on these cars as they do not react well to overheating. head gaskes blow out and cracks are common on the heads evin with no overheating.
  6. 4wheel and off road mag. usually lists contact info for ohv clubs and ativist groups that try to keep trais open. Unfortunately trail use is usually spoiled by the few indivduals who just cannot keep to established trails and like to go trail blazing. then the forrest service or environmental group sees the damage and lobbys to get access shut down for everyone. Im sorry Rooinator if you consider this a hijacking I just feel that we need to make a positive differance as a group. It just might keep trail acess open for all to enjoy. and Qman I dont mean to disrespect you but your signature does not exactly promote resposible trail use. mabey I misunderstand what you mean. I have been guilty of going off trail my self years ago when I was a younger less educated wheeler. so now I feel its my responsiblity to try and set a good example to my fellow of road friends. http://www.treadlightly.org/
  7. I have think I have a spare bypass valve from a saab. if you are serious let me know. heres the best pic I could find. the outlet from the turbo is a ofset and increase in size. that and the hood scoop were the hardest to do.
  8. I used a 1.8t vw jetta intercooler. and the bosh bypass valve. the bypass valve became rather anoying after a while so I disconected it. sounded like a wookie in pain. blow off valves tend to mess with the mass air flow meter signal. I let my bypass valve vent to atmosphere one time. It did not run as well. I will try to find a pic to post later.
  9. thats a cool link but mabey I missed the subaru info there. I would like to add a traction device to the wagon someday as well. something besides a elusive stock LSD.
  10. sound like the cams are off and mabey the flywheel too. did you use the tdc mark or the three little lines? big differace there. check the USMB repair manual I bet its in there.
  11. yeah you have something else wrong in there. that shold not effect the motor position. the eng. and trans mounts do.
  12. sound like the fly wheel is suspect. if they did not machine the steps properly it could do that. or as you are thinking a bad pressure plate. they are not realy known for high quality parts there so who knows. the disc is in properly right?
  13. it should line right up. if not you may have another mount giving you some trouble. are the bushings all worn out? I have considered making a heavy duty replacement for the pitch stopper. one that actually works. that stock one does not do much. hmmm ideas are flowin look out.
  14. pitching stopper? you mean the little guy under the spare tire? top of the motor to the back? it should pop right out. only 2 bolts. I never had a problem with removing them. do you mean the tranny mounts? sorry I could be missing somthing here. Im sure some one will set it straight.
  15. yup thats me:D yeah give me a call or an e mail I can get you goin. also stormtrooper (donald) is familiar with that job. he does it JY style swaparoo. Cheers, rallyruss@yahoo.com did you run that Jaos rally yet?
  16. Shannon dont do it! standard labor time for a rear wheelbearing job(complete) is 1.4hrs according to alldata. now if you had it all out and ready to go? 2 hrs? no way dude. and 110$ for the bearing? I can hook you up for less I am sure. I can get an actual quote if you have not purchased it already. as for pressing. I only charge 40$ per hour:brow: 100 cheaper than the dealer. let me know if you want the hook up. espically if you pull it and bring it down to me. might just save you a couple of bills
  17. I prefer not to add aditives. some do bad things to your system. fix whats really wrong. where is the leak? at the pump?
  18. yeah boots are replaceable. remove the shaft and pop off the joint. clean em and reboot. or its a bit cleaner to replace the whole thing. of course thats a bit simplified. but check in the usmb repair manual. there might be a explanation there.
  19. if you have the type that just spins but wont come off when locked. just drive a nail into it, offset a bit. and turn. poped a few that way real quick.
  20. there are some pics in this thread http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8768 you only need the springs. worked great on my car. not sure about a 2wd. I think it is the same. I got a set for 40 bucks. I did it for the same reason you stated. lack of load carring ability. but yeah it also lifted the rear a bit. it still rides well, a little stiffer but not too harsh. now with a car load of people and gear it still rides well:brow:
  21. No need for harsh words GD lets just help to figure this out. first the code 11 is of no concern it basicaly states the car lay out. next look by the strut tower for a group of relays. next to those is a vacume sol. 2 wires I think and two vac lines. this is the idle up sol. it should pass vacume when 12v is applied and not flow when power is not present. I would start here and see what you find.
  22. my rx has no surge. but the wagon did. I disconected the egr vac line and pluged it and surge went away. not a real fix but thats as far as mine went.
  23. you can ask ccrinc but from what i learned the permatex grey is the best stuff for the job.
  24. you can test your o2 sensor if you have a halfway decent volt meter. or better yet look at the o2 light on the ecm. if it blinks it is cycling as it should( engine hot of course). the o2 sensor does the fine adjustments to your mixture. running without it is not going to harm the car right away but over time it will. subarus are not to reliant on the o2 sensor and willrun halfway decent on a bad or missing o2. some other makes of cars will run horrible with a bad o2. the mileage recomendation for changing the o2 is primarily for prevenitive measures. bad o2s often kill the cats and thats usually a lot more money than the o2 sensor. if you want to build your own exhaust. then just buy a o2 bung and weld it into your system.
  25. there is definately a negative effect. increased crank case pressure. leaking seals/gaskets. at least run it to a vent filter. K/N makes them as well as other companys.
