My 97 just died while I was backing up today. It's a 2.5 with automatic and about 170k on it. It died while backing up and now nothing. All the dash lights and electrical work, but it won't even turn over, not even a click when you try to start it. I went and got a new battery and still the same. Any ideas?

I am getting ready to put a 2.2 into a 99 outback. I have done this a couple times before using a 95 2.2. My question is, are the 90-94 2.2 motors as good as the 95. The 95 motors are getting hard to find.

Is it normal for both cooling fans to constantly run when the climate control is on defrost? The AC is not on and they run as soon as you start it and don't shut off. It will also do it when the climate control is set to mix defrost and lower vents. Also when they run the idle drops a little. If he puts the control panel to any other setting that doesn't have defrost, they immediately turn off.

I know the 01 has a 2.5 and my 99 heads are 2.2, but the 01 has bad heads and I have a brand new set of 99 2.2 heads sitting in my shop.

Will heads from a 99 legacy work on the 2001 legacy?

I have confused myself (easily done????). I have a 95 2.2 and it has no pullies on it. I have a couple pullies laying around and not sure which is for the 2.2. i am trying to figure out the cam pullies. I have 2 for the left cam, 1 has 2 timing contacts on the back and the other has 7. Any ideas. The only one I have for the right is plastic. Are the right hand plastic different between the early 2.5 and the 2.2. Thanks Dp

Torque bind is usually in the front end, so the fuse wont help. I would probably look for a new tranny.

I just picked up a 93 Impreza 4 door for free????. It has 02 Wrx motor with rod knock, Wrx 5 speed and Wrx rear end. 05 (i think) sti dash and cluster. Body is pretty straight. Needs seats, fix motor and a little suspension work. Small price to pay for what I got.

I get good new radiators for $130.00 from performance radiator in Seattle WA. And they will ship them.

Should the oil pump on a 95 2.2 a gasket, or should I put a thin layer of sealer in it, or nothing?

Picked up a 93 4 door GC Impreza with all 02 Wrx running gear. Told the motor has a rod knock and I'm looking for suggestions on either rebuild or find new short block. Any input? Thanks

Will seats from a 2001 outback work in a 2000 Forester?

Well, now I'm baffled. I have tried everything and still no start. I am now sitting with a 2001 2.2 motor from an Impreza 5 speed in a 2000 Forester with a 5 speed. I have the intake and pulleys from the Forester on, I have fuel (won't even start with starting fluid). I have spark, I have tripple checked the timing and I replaced the crank sensor. All it does is turn over but won't fire. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks

Why ECU. Is there no ECU in your 95.

Swapped pullies and checked timing. It has spark and its getting fuel, but it just turns over and won't start. I used the intake from the Forester, tomorrow I mat swap the intakes and put the one from the 2.2 on and see what happens.
