Wow, so after reading ALL 3 links, I have come to the conclusion that a cat delete down pipe is a good thing for any turbo car. The bad is emissions, and since we don't have emissions here the only problem I see is the cel. So once I figure out how to deal with the cel, I'm good. I can't just ignore the cel because of its importance, so I will figure out how to get it off. Thanks for all the info from everyone. -

He did the cat back already. Sounds way better than it did stock be he's wanting a bit more. (Kids) oh wait, I put loud exhaust on everything I can :-) -

He's not going for more boost, he wants a better sound. He loves the sound and isn't worried about more power -

2.2

Cool. Thank you. I am going to go buy it to stick in a 98 Forester with a bad 2.5. I have used the lecacy 2.2 many times, just never came across an Impreza 2.2. Opens more doors for diner engines -

So I got the car and no cel. I pulled each plug from the coil one at a time and all made a difference in idle. Am I most likely looking at a bad valve -

Thanks for the info. If it's a bad valve, I will swap it to a 2.2. I'm only paying $400 for the car. It's in pretty good shape otherwise with 199k on it. -
It has a 4 speed manual tranny. At the front of the tranny in the engine bay is a short dipstick, is the for the front gear box and requires 90 weight gear oil? And is the tranny fluid checked by opening a fill plug on the side of the tranny?

It has not been tuned that I know of -
Odd situation, right before we hit cold weather my car started shaking when I hit the breaks at higher speeds. Did that for about a week then we hit freezing or close to freezing temps and it quit. It's been perfect for the last 2 months, but now the temp has warmed up and it started shaking again. Any ideas? Thanks

I am looking for a possible fix for my stupidity. While putting a new timing belt on a 98 2.2, I stripped the bolt on the bottom timing belt roller. Drilling and tapping it to a 12x1.25 would be easy, but then drilling the roller out would be tricky but doable. Or should I put a helicoil in it to keep it a 10x1.25? Any input would be great. Thanks
