  1. Will a 2.2 from a 98 Impreza with an automatic work in a 99 legacy with an automatic. Impreza is phase 1 legacy is phase 2
  2. I have a 98 gt wagon with a bad auto tranny. Can I take the auto tranny and rear end out of my wrecked 98 Impreza sedan and swap them into my gt. I am going to swap the 2.5 out with a 95 2.2 if that matters. Thanks Dp213
  3. I just picked up a 01 Impreza with 2.2 and 5 speed. I am looking for more power without adding a turbo. What are my options? Frankenmotor? And if so what block and head combo. Thanks Dp213
  4. I am putting a 95 2.2 into a 98 gt. I was told to put the 98 wiring on the 95 intake. I did but the coil pack from the 95 has a different plug and the coil pack from the 98 doesn't mount. What to do? Thanks Dp213
  5. I have a 98 gt with auto tranny and a baf 2.5 motor. I have a rebuilt 1994 2.2 motor but no intake on it. Will it work in my gt with my intake? Thanks
  6. I'm in Washington and I can get an auto tranny from a shop that imports them from Japan for about $400. That has a warranty and less than 50k miles on it. Manuals are impossible to find. Even for them. I also agree with the 95 legacy being the most reliable Subaru and easiest to maintain.
  7. I thought the red antifreeze (asian) available at any auto parts store is the recommended type for subarus. Its about $18.00/gal and is supposed to be less harmful to the head gaskets.
  8. Will a 2.2 from a 94 fit in place of the 2.5 in my 98 gt? I know it doesn't have the egr but I'm not worried about a cel. Do I use my intake and flexplate?
  9. Upgrades depend on how much money you want to spend. I'm not sure what you can do for the motor, but I believe the suspension can be improved by running stock the suspension from a 02 wrx. Or you can buy coil over set, but they are expensive.
  10. I am surprised no one mentioned the seperator plate. If you have the engine out, pull the flexplate and replace the seperator plate. Yours is probably plastic and most likely leaking oil. Spend the money and buy a new metal one.
  11. I have read a lot about the frankenmotor and not sure its the best option. My wagon in an automatic and I have to put a new motor in it. I am starting from scratch and using nothing from my motor as its my daily driver. I don't want to lose any power by going to a 2.2 but I also want to get away from the double cam. Any ideas would be great. Thanks DP213

  14. Is a 2.5 dohc from a legacy with an automatic the same as a 99 dohc from an outback with a manual.
  15. I just put in a new clutch kit with throw out and pilot bearing.
  16. My 98 gt is doing the same thing. But I noticed on mine if I really stomp in it, I get a lot of smoke. I think my rings are bad. I have changed everything else.
  17. When I am moving it sounds like a wheel bearing is going out. But if I push the clutch in while moving the sound goes away. I'm thinking transmission?
  18. I am about to do a head gasket for the first time. 2001 2.5 motor. After the heads are surfaced do I have to adjust the valve clearance? Thanks Dp213
  19. Which flywheel do I use. The original out of the outback 2.5 or the one from the impreza 2.2
