  1. Yeah, check the fusible links. I don't remember if you ever got that issue with the hot links fixed...
  2. This is the best I have... probably won't help after those pics.
  3. I'm making the move to no timing covers. But which ones should / have to be there? The metal one by the oil pump? Rear pieces?
  4. I had mine pressure tested. Bridge cracks did not leak, exhaust port cracks did. Had to find another set.
  5. XT6 pressure plate, XT6 disc, and EA82T flywheel, right? I've got an EA82T flywheel, Sachs XT6 pressure plate, and a WJM Rallye Sport disc that I am hoping will play well together when the engine gets put back in. (clutch pic)
  6. Correct on all counts. Especially the third.
  7. I'll keep trying to get it out. Hopefully intact. Vice grips are how it got crimped. Had to make them that tight to not slip with rubber tape and a rag. Now the tube wants to bend at that spot, as if it wasn't tough enough before. Dealer only wants $11 for a new one, but thealleyboy has one for me . Good call on the parts store for o-ring. With my luck trying to find Soob parts around here, no one will have the right size.... Should it be a "hi-temp" or anything?
  8. Mine won't come out. I've tried severa Blaster applications, vice grips, and heat. It has only moved a little. I managed to crimp the base some and mess up the mounting edge on the block. Pics attatched. How do I get it out? Just keep heating and repeating? I know I'm going to need a new o-ring, but I don't think it was in my seal kit. It should be rubber right? Pic of the rings I'm not sure about attached. Also, any tips on cleaning the varnish and stuff from inside the block with the case and pistons and all assembled? --Ed
  9. Thanks. I do not think it's leaking. I just want to take care of it while it's easy to work on.
  10. I think wagon wheels would be OK, probly not the best with XT tho. Color is up to you, I'm on modem so I don't know what color the car is. It all comes down to whatever floats your boat. But please, for the sake of the Subaru community, do not put spinners on the XT (especially "fake" ones). Slap em on the Kia if you want, paint-matched ones (not "chrome") might even look good. --Ed
  11. Just skimmed my Haynes and two Chiltons. Only found one mention in the input shaft overhaul section: "oil guide" Am I just wasting my time? Anybody?
  12. My other car has dual throttle bodies. 3.5L Chrysler Concorde (Dodge Intrepid). Twin Holley's stock. Accel/CC cable, TB, bar with spring, set screw, TB, TPS. I stuck some custom throttle body spacers on too. Some pics in gallery. LINK. I can get ya more info if needed. --Ed
  13. The rear main seal was getting replaced anyway. Have you replaced the snout seal? Is it a bolt off, bolt on deal?
  14. If you are going to do a flush of the system consider using vinegar instead of one of the flush products. I have had great results.
  15. Just had mine professionally checked, pressure test. No leaking from the crack between valves. There was a TSB too. No problem unless the crack is 1.2mm wide IIRC (which is HUGE). Just pulled some Gen3 heads from the yard with only one tiny crack on the #3 cylinder (closest to turbo).
  16. I have my engine out. Lots of gunk in tranny bellhousing area. Is there a seal behind the plate with 4 or 5 bolts behind the clutch fork? Is it a simple to replace? (Like take out bolts, remove old seal, insert new seal, torque bolts.) I don't suspect a leak, but would like to take care of it while it's convenient. I didn't find anything about it in the Haynes book
  17. I had similar symptoms after doing my first brake job. So I replaced the front-divers bearings and noted slightly worn axle and hub splines. A month later it started slipping. Thought I blew a CV joint. Car gets disabled in the road - nasty grinding, no wheels spinning. Get it towed home and taken apart. Axle and hub have no splines left, completely stripped. Turns out I put the cone washer on backwards.
  18. I clicked free, waited a few secs, clicked download link, and had it in 30 seconds! Lowest speed hit 155 KB/s... Cool vid. I gotta watch again on monitor and speakers...
  19. http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos Another good calc.
  20. The one I got at NAPA is one of those plastic-molded-onto-paper retail packages. Paper backer is mainly black in color, white text in upper left. <NAPA> Permatex QUICK GRID REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER REPAIR KIT
  21. Powdercoating tools... that's why I can't do it. My painting tools are a set of rattle cans!
