  1. Would be prohibitively expensive if it existed. If you want ABS it will probably have to be all custom. Pump, computer, sensors in front knuckles and rear something, sensor pick-ups (notches) on axles, etc. I could be wrong about everything though. Maybe extensive swapping/modification of newer-generations parts could do it. --Ed
  2. I believe the 27 splines are on the tranny input shaft. 25 on the CV's.
  3. Yeah, new rings are on the list for the beefed block. Engine has about 220K miles on it. I've had it for about 50K of them. I don't know of the maintainence before that. It came from an "older" person in WA. What I want to know is whether or not the block in its current condition will last another 50-100K. Pretty much everything else is getting replaced.
  4. What kind of price range would a new set of rings fall into? Inexpensive, but not crappy ones. Any recommendations? I have serious plans to rebuild the block - bored, forged pistons, metal HG's, and studs in the future. I was hoping the block would hold out with the new reseal and pumps I am giving it. I knew I should have done a compression test before I tore it down.
  5. I've got a couple streaks. First two pics are from #1, third is from #3. How bad is this? What caused them? Lifetime wear, or over a few miles when the engine crapped out on me?
  6. So I would be able to install a new XT6 clutch kit on my stock EA82T 4wd flywheel without any problems? I thought I was told that wouldn't work by someone who had tried...
  7. If the EA82 4wd and XT6 have same splines and disc diameter, are they switchable? XT6 pressure plate with EA82 disc? XT6 clutch and p.p. with EA82 flywheel?
  8. Injectors are back, and boy are they CLEAN! I sent them straight out of the car. They kept the 2" fuel line and hose clamps though.
  9. Just got mine back from RC. Injectors from an 88 RX. #1 and #3 might be switched, but #2 and #4 are the correct cylinders.
  10. Overflow tank was full of oil 45K miles ago (10 months). Can't beat oil's freezing point in the winter! Coolant was pure milk, occasionally with tan tint. Heavy oil use (350-500 miles per quart) and lots of coolant use. No evidence of coolant in oil. Except for occasional bubble on dipstick, looked like air. Oil pump kept "normal" pressure. Water pump not weeping. Both are being replaced. --Ed
  11. Out of nowhere my oil pressure went near 0 and temp almost redlined. My whole block was steaming. Oil smelled burnt (day or two after change). Let it sit for a day. Started right up, good pressure and temp. Gave a test drive around the block, felt fine, headed home (25 miles). Makes it about 10 miles, temp starts climbing, oil pressure dropping slowly. Stalls at light, steaming/smoking like crazy. Wait another day. Exact same scenario. I don't know if temp went up because of no oil pressure to lubricate, or oil pressure dropped because oil got too thin from the heat. I just don't want to get my HG/reseal job done to find out that I fried a ring and have to do it all over.
  12. What does a "blown" head gasket look like? I think mine is blown, but I don't see any obvious ruptures or anything. I also didn't do a compression test before tearing the motor apart. Did I actually fry a piston ring?
  13. I got a Bosch universal O2 sensor from Advance Auto Parts for about $16.
  14. Dang! I didn't think they'd be that expensive. I was hoping on like $10-20 each, but haven't actually looked into pricing yet. I do have epoxy though....
  15. Two cubic plastic things on intake manifold, middle/rear passenger side. Have plastic pipes connected to vac hoses. What do they do? Do I need em? I broke both stems off at the base. Here's a shot from the rear angle, I have better pics if no one knows what I'm talking about.
  16. What is your steering column gauge pod made for? Who makes it? Any modification required?
  17. Cant help you but I'd like to know as well. --Ed
  18. I just got a Bosch universal as well, $16.
  19. Cams are here. No gaskets yet... Still have lots of cleaning to do.
  20. Do those two situations both cruise, or are you accelerating in 5th with the pedal half down?
