  1. The great thing is that you do not need an excuse. None. It doesn't matter. You get rear ended, it's their fault. No matter what. A C D A ! ...unless someone has different laws...
  2. I know this is not the place for naysaying, but why? You had a good thing going with your turbo setup(s). Do you want to run with the setup, or just blow it up repeatedly to scientifically find weak points? You could take some of your proven mods, and half of the stuff you are talking about here to make something faster for cheaper. (blah... ej.) Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it done, and will help in any tiny way possible, but... forged balanced crank, forged rods, forged everything, piston skirt oil spayers, lightweight balanced custom pulleys, balanced everything, full-custom fuel, water + meth injection, full e.m. / ms'n's, etc...
  3. I have the 260 grind. Best power from 4-6 range. (I always shifted at 6k) Great for "spirited" driving and highway use. I would highly recommend stock cams for anyone driving theirs "normally". Power in the 2.5-4.5 range is nice for everyday use. I often thought about going back. But that was cancelled with thoughts of future supporting mods. There was more done to my engine at the same time cams were installed, so I can't attribute everything to them. stock injectors cleaned, everything else cleaned, valve job, new plugs, cap, rotor, resealed, new pumps, intake silencer removed, AMSOIL, every single electrical contact cleaned...
  4. Yeah, probably too rocky. I drove my RX thru water about that depth (within a couple inches, I need to see pics) with a mud bottom. Oh, no problems at all...
  5. From memory, same pitch. M10x1.25 14MM nut head I'll check when I get home. I wrote everything down when I did my head job. Can't help you with the lengths...
  6. I wanted to do that... Then I went offroading in my excellent condition in it. Banged it up good. Decided to make it a road-rallyer. Make sure you ditch the trim if go wheelin.
  7. So I stopped in again tonight after hours. The doors were unlocked this time, and there was a price on the window. Interior is good. Not anything close to mint, not great, elec tape over some molding (holes), has a smell, some stains, blah blah. Front bumper has damage. Buckled by right headlight. Oil waaay overfilled (by the dealer no doubt). SPFI. Coolant res empty, rad level good. Here's the fun part... the sticker price... ready?..... $4,671 I $#!T you not. I really want to know how this ends.
  8. afraid I can't help you much with the milkshake, but I do have a window.
  9. Mine did for 40K, plus however long the previous owner had it like that.
  10. Are you sure it's oil? Is it fresh or dirty? Could be PS fluid. Or maybe runoff from the oil filler tube. All the blocks I have seen are oily/skanky on top.
  11. What a shame... at least someone was having fun I guess. In my situation, I'd talk them down as much as possible just for the body.
  12. Not a coolant line. It's an air tube from the Auxilary Air Valve (AAV). It is responsible for idling and cold starts. The AAV is directly on top of the thermostat housing. The coolant temperature heats up a metal coil inside the AAV which directly controls how much extra air to let into the intake.
  13. 11044AA013 - Head Gasket EA82(T) $25.37 each (you need 2) from Subaru Genuine Parts https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html SubyGal/SubieGrl? (Jamie) from this board works there. (for some reason 1stSubaruParts is only showing VW items...)
  14. ...last night that I was cruising the local Subaru stealership's used car lot. (I'm looking for a replacement for my RX. Did a lot of eBay and CL yesterday.) There's like 2 main rows of cars. Never seen an old gen there, but I check every once in a while. So I have this little snippet of a vision in my dream. I turn the corner to head into the last row, and see a grille. I think OMG! in the dream, then it's over. So I rolled by before class today. Going slow, checking every car like usual. I turn the corner... lo and behold, an old-school grille. YES! Wagon? Obviously not. A sedan? No. It's a coupe! A blue one (the darker-light blue). Park, hop out, check it out. Obviously garaged. Beautiful, shiny paint. Only 1 quarter-sized wheel-well rust spot on each side. Underbody, shocks not rusty. New tires. Rear drums. Clean interior, cargo cover. Then I check the VITALS. Stick? Crap! Auto. Turbo? No. Miles? 055381!!! Oh, and it's 2wd... I know it's a long shot, but I had to know what they were asking for it. Find the sales guy. Ask him. He says "uhh.... mmm...." for 30 seconds straight. Then says "I'll take thirty-five-hundred." I laughed out loud at him. "But it's a 2wd automatic" I say. "Yeah... It only has 55 thousand miles." "Well I'm not even going to try bargaining. Thanks." And that was the end of that.
  15. Cool. That's the same paint as the only XT I have ever seen in real life. (and that was driving by for 2 seconds)
  16. Awesome! That's what I'm llookin for. Pics please to soobscript (at) gmail (dot) com I'm confused... Are you referring to getting different tranny stubs? Did the PS rack fit onto the Brumby crossmember? Any modification? What about the fluid lines? Was the rear LSD a direct swap? I think you used orignal Brumby axles and stuff, just changed the brakes... I still want to use all the RX suspension bits: springs, struts/shocks, sway bars, knuckles, axles, etc. If I do that, wouldn't the PS/tierod/balljoint issues disappear? Will the RX front struts fit the Brat knuckles?
  17. I have a thread in the Retrofitting forum. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=457557 Thinking of moving ALL RX gear onto a Brat body. Any experiences or help would be appreciated. (but post it at the other thread)
  18. Was planning on using the RX axles, knuckles, and hubs. So cut and weld the control arm mounts... Then drill some holes at strut tops... (maybe get some adjustable-type top mounts) Then hook the front suspension up? Which tranny crossmember should I use? What about the rear? Leaf springs scare me.
  19. I have no idea of power... probably about stock. (1 & 3 have low compression from leaky rings) Pulls like a mutha though. Redlines are fun. I ported and polished the "hot" (exhaust) side of the turbo. Smoothed out size transitions and cleaned up 230K miles of crud.
  20. So I have a wrecked RX donor car and an opportunity to buy a Brat. RX - 1988 EA82T D/R-manual coupe | Brat - 1984 EA81 4speed manual I would like to take ALL the RX gear and swap it to the Brat. engine, transmission, LSD, struts, springs, brakes Engine/Tranny seems simple enough. What kind of modification is needed for the suspension?
