  1. I guess it's best to lather up your best Texan drawl for this, then hurry home and brush your teeth after having talked such sh*#.
  2. What else to tell them?? Oh, yes, I forgot, you should tell them to... FIX THE EFIN CAR! Seriously, you have been told to piss off and you think you need to be nice? It is now as it was while still under warranty their responsibility to diagnose and fix the car. Bring any service records or documentation with you when you meet the rep. If you haven't already done so, create a phone log (to the best of your memory) to go along with your service visits to show that you are serious about getting satisfaction.
  3. Do I have to SHOUT. Said it before, I'll say it again... if you had the same issue documented numerous times while under warranty, a good dealership should put their tail between their legs, admit incompetence to the regional rep and get this buggy fixed. Don't email SOA, call them and don't let go. You've called them before while under warranty so they should have a case number. Get them to set up a meeting at a dealership with the regional rep... not a phone call. BTW, what is the particular electrical problem you are having? There are some pretty good diagnosticians on board here that might just come up with a solution in the meanwhile.
  4. Ask to meet with regional rep. Bad dealerships happen.I see you are in CT. I use Dan Perkins Subaru in Milford and they have been reasonable.
  5. 2 connecting rods and a hole in the block... these are the risks one takes and perils one must endure when driving without those good luck air fresheners or other religious symbols affixed to the dashboard. I am glad you decided that ole blue was not all dead but only mostly dead, as discussed in the movie Princess Bride. Miracle Max: Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there's usually only one thing you can do. Inigo Montoya: What's that? Miracle Max: Go through his clothes and look for loose change. PS Your driveway will never be the same now that your perpetual asphalt sealer has been overhauled. Get home safe.
  6. You did say you were going out for a beer. You just didn't say how far!
  7. Did this just start? Could be cheap plug wires. Radio Shack sells a small in line suppressor for the antenna line or there is a suppresor for on the back of the altrernator. Then again... Rush???... better off with no radio.
  8. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. Actually, I think the faulty pump/seal resulted in delayed engagement especially going from R to D.
  9. Check to see if there is a flash for the TCU. There was one for my 2000 Legacy GT auto.
  10. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/ If you click on Service Bulletins, it will allow you to search by make model and year. BTW, in NYC, can you really hear anything above the din anyway? (just kidding, I work in NYC)
  11. I use SubaruPartsForYou.com They are an arm of Dan Perkins Subaru in Milford CT. Very helpful and an easy reach for the east coasters and great for walk-ins for us locals.
  12. At 170,000 miles, there was probably more stopping power in Fred Flinstone's foot.
  13. I had the dreaded shimmy at braking. I used a discounted online Subie site to order genuine Subaru parts and replaced front rotors and pads on all 4 using the provided shims and grease. Shimmy gone, happy chappy.
  14. Wait for me Nipper, looks like you'll be needing a designated driver.
  15. Alaska... so easy to keep a beer cold . Nippy... off to the great north.
  16. The lit displays on the HVAC and Radio/cd aren't working. The surrounding dials etc are lit but the screens that normally show the status of the HVAC or the radio station/cd are blank. The HVAC and radio work otherwise. Still under warranty so it's takin' a ride but thought I'd ask the intelligencia. Separate fuse?
  17. under the hood? replace plugs, wires, pcv valve, fuel & air filters, clean throttle body and maybe Seafoam upper engine treatment, new air freshener for rear mirror. Buy parts online save $.
  18. Where did you read or hear about this particular TSB? I just checked NHTSA.dot.gov and they list recalls but ALSO service bulletins but I didn't find reference to this issue. I haven't experienced the noise on my 05 OB and am feeling cheated.:-\
  19. Been thinkin' (always a bad omen) about cleaning MAF sensor on my 2000 GT Legacy in hopes of solving the occasional ping under certain temp/humidity conditions. I read that a dirty MAF sensor can cause everything from stuttering and hesitation (but not Tourette's Syndrome) to male pattern baldness. Could it help the pinging? Where is the sensor?
  20. Check out NHTSA.gov for recalls and tech service bulletins. Tshe realls would be covered but if you use inverse reasoning, you can sometimes figure out what might be or about to become defective with your model year. I have a 2000 GT. AT developed delayed engagement as indicated in one of the TSBs. There is another recently asking questions about his OIB and some things apply across the 2000 year and not just model. Has the car received the coolant additive that extends HG warranty to 8 years, 100K miles? It's a recall item and any dealer will be able to tell yopu if there are any recalls open on your vehivle using the VIN. Welcome aboard and good luck.
  21. Is that the lost winning $4 Billion Lottery ticket tucked into the console... imagine a chauffeur driven Subaru!
