Lifter tick or something else?
Starlite replied to Starlite's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have just replaced the headgaskets clean all the lifters ( one had thick tar looking thing in it), reseal oilpump two years ago and resealed the engine. This is the second time i replace headgaskets because of cheap hg last time. This sound could not be heard before hg job. I think. Only a very hard lifter tick. Running 10w30 oil. -
Is this a bad lifter or might i have a failing bearing? Ea82 mpfi 89. https://youtu.be/QmB5nhxUL64

Twice i had mice eating and dying in my 89 superstation air intake filter. -
I have a new clutch installed in my 1989 ea82 and when i adjusting the pedal play to 10-20 mm the clutch release level wont get the correct end play. Or if i set the release level freeplay to 17 mm according the haynes book the pedal will travel way over 20 mm before the clutch engage. Whatever i do one of the measurment will be off. What am i doing wrong?

Hello there is two screws on my carb. Is there a basic setting on these? And now to the annoying part because when i unscrew the idlescrew on the back side of the carb it jammed. Resulting a broken needlejet and broken threads in the carb body. Luckily i have a spare carb which i used. Unscrewed the same fast needle jet and the same spoob happened again. But this time i got it out alive and noticed the rubber on the needle was loose. Is there a better way to make this work or do i have to buy new needles?

Well i retourqued it and it feels ok. I did not remove the head just open all the bolts like 30-40° an retight.
-
Well installed the gaskets and tightening the bolts to 22-43-47 ftlbs and noticed one of the bolts feelt soft. Crap i say...so i might need a timecerts or v-coil. But can i reuse the hedgasket or must i replace it?

Finaly my gaskets recieved. Not the best looking quality but i hope they work out.

Still waiting for my gaskets but must ask how do you prepair the engine block? I will have my heads resurfaced. Also when tearing down the engine i found out the oil separator was leaking. The corkgasket was failing in the bottom. Can i use another a regular gasket material with some sealant pn both side?

Starlite replied to Starlite's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The belt is traveling way to far against the plastic cover. -
What is the reason for this?
