  1. like the title says... spark is getting to the plug, and they new plugs and wires. i took #4 off of the distriubtor, and there was no change so i know its not igniting. could a blown head gasket cause this?
  2. ?? on honda motors the coolant is right outside the sleeves. the Coolant is all around the sleeves. but different manufacturers...
  3. im in washington and i weld. i'd be happy to molest your exhaust. let me know. im near olympia
  4. 1-3-2-4 is what i understand from reading where does 1 start on the dizzy? (looking at the distributor from the front of the car)
  5. your wrong about that spanky, im in Chehalis
  6. but ever since i bought my 85 wagon, i see them everywhere. subaru makes good cars, they just dont die unless they put into a tree.
  7. ^^ i'm definately going to put an intercooler on it. I just want to locate a hood that i can canibolize for hood vent type thing. with a recirculating valve, as i have read, is just a variant of a blow off valve. a recirc valve "recirculates" the pressurized air from the charge pipes to dirrectly in front of the compressor inlet. i've read it does this because the blast of pressurized air will keep the comp wheel spinning and reduce lag time. If the computer is set up for no blow off/bypass valve, would i even see a performance gain by putting one on?
  8. When you say the fuel cuts out at 9psi, is that the ecu's doing based on the map sensor(if subarus have those)? or is it beacause the injectors cant supply the fuel thus leaning out the cylinder? i plan to go bigger than 9, for starters i plan to use something like a vortec FMU, and get some bigger injectors. does anyone liters per hour, or gallons, the fuel pump is?
  9. This is very simple, dont try to make it complicated, because its not.. - Take the wastegate actuator off - Get a small spring, (example is a carburator return spring) something that has some spungy tension and isnt to stiff. You can go to the hardware store, junkyard whatever to get one. - Loop one end of the spring around the wastegate flapper hole. - pull tension against the flapper (keep tension so the flapper will stay closed) pull the end of the spring until it feels pretty tight, loop it around a spot off the block/turbo whatever, just something that it can hold onto. - Go test drive, see if you boost, If its to low, put more tension against it, if its to high loosen it up a bit. Dont be worried if it falls off because then you will have 0 boost. See the spring? now just pull tension somewhere, even the old wastegate mounting bolts might be good? probably not enough tension, but you could start their, I normally go off the block. What does this do? basically its forcing the wastegate flapper SHUT, and the only way it will open is when enough pressure is forcing the flapper to open, this is where the spring tension comes into play. More tension harder it is for the flapper to open, Thus more boost. Doing it this way can make the car spool incredibly fast, but its a bitch to adjust.
  10. so any one know how high i can safely up my boost?
  11. i've been working on the '85 gl wagon(awd turbo) i just got. I took of the intake plenum(the thing between the turbo outlet and the throttle body inlet) and the hose on the bottom was hard, cracked, and light shining through. i replaced that with 1/2 inch radiator hose and it started right up. that might be a source of vac leak. i just need to make it run on all cylinders again.
  12. anyone have a shop manual they can email me for this bad boy? not asking for a hand out... i mean i have the chiltons, and the difference between that and the one the dealership uses is like one is a true manual, and the other is a comic book. whats the max recommended boost for the ea82? any insight would be helpful. thanks for the replies.
  13. THanks for the replys. I live near Olympia, anyway, whats the easiest/best choice for this conversion? do i just need to find a gl wagon awd 5spd? i dont know about spline counts and all that stuff... what years are compatible?
  14. Hi, I just bought my first subaru ever. Its a '85 gl awd turbo wagon. only drawback is that its an auto. how hard is it, and how do you convert to a manual? any advise or insight would be appreciated.
