That's the northwest for you. Going on portland or seattle craigslist just makes me sad lol. -
83 GL EA81 questions!
comatosellama replied to zombieblues's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
200hp? Just swap to an ej22, unless you can get one of rams supercharged units. Exo might be tricky b/c unibody, so the exo might twist and break. Tranny might be hard, old gen subie trans seem to be fragile, especially the 4mt d/r. As would suspension, not much crazy stuff available. Might wanna start bribing your welder buddies now for lots and lots of welding/fab. If you go through with it, make a build thread! I'd love to see something like that bmw 3 series "$500 baja rally car" -
For suspension apparently miata stuff works, at least ea82

how much should inner cv joint extend?
comatosellama replied to joe5's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
When you have it on the car, it shouldn't overextend because the tranny and hub should keep it within tolerances. If I'm wrong someone please correct me. -

Fiat has to be my least favorite brand. Giving the wrangler IFS is just wrong. They're slowly ruining the jeep wrangler, which I think is the last untainted car from the US. -

I'd agree with your price. But people really do pay 8k. I hate if for parts prices but I love it because my car might actually be valued by others, not just a huge rush of nostalgia. -

I don't even see mine on the road sadly. Need a Y pipe and finish my bumpers and electronics to see mine on the road. Someday though. -

That's not quite aircraft spec though, just decked and ported. I'm excited for when the wagons are near worthless then, 87 wagons are my favorite. Every time I see vegablades wagon I drool. -
I hear that you should have all 4 tires within a quarter inch of eachother, or risk tranny damage. But I think if you're offroad where you'd slip enough to offset it, having a tire that's an inch off to get you to the trailhead so you can get a tow would be an okay thing in an emergency. Of course a full size spare is always better. I'd go for a pre worn tire from a junker. Cheap and closer to what your tires will probably be at than new.

I wonder if anyone makes a reproduction cyclops unit you can install. I'd spring for it -

Is the market that good in texas? Because the only old gen subarus I see here in Michigan are in my garage. There's a guy on the forum in my city but I don't think he drives it. -
That's it, I'm moving to the west coast. I've seen 2 in person my whole life

Weird. Figured since it's an sti underneath they'd do the rear diff that way
