  1. advanced auto on 35th & state in Milwaukee. They have done like 100 for me. Aisin timing kit and a fel pro HG kit.
  2. A friend of mine has a 2006 Subaru outback with 121,000 miles. It is at a Subaru dealer there and they say it needs rear brakes, brake line repairs, emergency brake failed, some exhaust work and a rear o2 I believe. They gave him the it leaks oil at the head gaskets quote for $3400.00, but they were just replaced two years ago.so I bet they are seeping a little. He did not see any leaks or top off between oil changes in the last 2 years. I think they wanted to sell him a new Subaru, which they did. He did not trade it in and I was going to go rescue it, but it is too far for me.He would take $1500 for it. I wanted to throw this out there to the group before it goes to Facebook marketplace or CL. Anyone out there looking for a pretty clean low mileage fixer upper. It runs really well and and is very clean all around.

  4. Just bought a 2006 Outback Wagon that had bad tailgate wiring. Wires on both sides were broken,so I just replaced the entire harness. Replaced the harness and the circuit that powers up the radio, dome lights etc kept popping as soon as fuse was installed with the car ignition off. Crazy, thought the harness would have taken care of that, but no. Did some reading and some testing and thought, what the hell, pull the radio based on what I was seeing. Well, when the radio came out, it was rattling like a box of nuts and bolts in an empty box. I shook it for a few minutes gently to see what it was and all of the sudden, coins start coming out of the cd slot. .37 later the radio is empty but dead. No more circuit popping. Put in a 05 Radio I had on the shelf in and I am off to the races......with a radio. I have never seen that before. LOL
  5. That is a lot of time & $ for a maybe it will work in my opinion. Look at car-part.com and check out compatibility of what you are looking to do. Try to get the same trans code that you have so that it drops right in unless you are into Frankenstein projects. My two cents
  6. Curious which blocks are compatible with a bad 2013 2.0 engine in an Impreza
  7. It should be under the bumper cover and is maybe associated with the charcoal canister. Between the rear wheel well and the bumper. There might be one on each side.
  8. agree with idosubaru get a low mile JDM and swap it in using your intake and call it a day. an 02 3.0 is a bitch to take apart and put back together.Timing chain, two covers with like a zillion bolts on the front to deal with. You are way ahead with the JDM.

  10. That is a good thought. I think I will put some electrical tape on the wires that don't have insulation on them any longer and see if that stops the fuse pop before the final repair. Some are still connected but have no insulation, others appear to be severed.
  11. found broken wires passenger side from tailgate to hatch. 3 or 4 at least. Will pull it inside the garage to work on the splice.
  12. I just peeled back the rubber boot covers that hold the wires from the rear tailgate to the chassis and the wiring looks clean and connected. no breaks I could see. Will check closer in the AM.
  13. It is all of the cabin lights in the entire car, stereo and clock/outside temp display. So you think there is a good chance one of the wires from the body to the tailgate are shorted then? The back up fuse is not really related to back up lights from what i can tell. The fuse that keeps blowing is the #2 fuse under the hood that controls all of the things I have mentioned. The horn and air bag light are on also. I wonder if that is related or a bad clock spring perhaps?
  14. I just bought this and the radio, info display with outside temp, and all interior lights were not working. Read up on it and it said, replace the 20 amp under the hood #2 Back Up fuse. I can't even get a fuse in there and it will arc sparks and blow before it is fully inserted into the fuse block. The car has stock everything and it appears to be a bad ground somewhere. Anybody else have this happen to them?
  15. i read like a demon on the internet after doing a bunch of other basic diagnosis. On rock auto it was inexpensve(somewhat) part to replace. The dealer wanted hundreds for it.
  16. I had a fuel regulator fail on my h6 and it did that. It was intermittent at first with rough running and then had a whole bunch of cylinder misfires on one side of the block. Replaced the regulator on that side and it ran like a dream. Years before, crank but start was a bad crank sensor. Just went out one day. no prior codes.
  17. A head-gasket job in my neck of the woods is like $2k using AISIN timing and fel pro multi-layer HG. I have never had to replace a catalytic converter at that mileage. O2 sensors, sure, but doubt it is really a converter. I could be wrong, but have them replace the proper sensors and check for exhaust leaks, etc first. Find an independent subie shop in your area and your price should come down and your quality of install will probably go up. Once you get a more competitive price, you can figure whether you should kick it down the rod or not. I do agree with idosubaru that it was probably not done right the last time. My first HG repair on a 2000 subaru was in 9 years ago and it is still humming away with my son driving the daylights out of that one.
  18. I agree with Montana tom . the rear support will be an easier maneuver for sure.
  19. Looked up via car-part.com. There are quite a few by you. Pricing is another stroy. They sell for about 300 with 150k miles around my neck of the woods. That's cuz the bodies rust away first. 1995 Engine Assembly Subaru Legacy (2.2L, VIN 6, 6th digit),2.2L-150K 150,000 A 1548SL $Call Fast Auto Wrecking USA-WA(Battle-Ground) Request_Quote 360-723-5156 Request_Insurance_Quote 43
