The heater core could be clogged. There are some youtube videos on how to unclog a heater core in the car. I just had to do one. I had really poor heat only on one side. Once we blew out the heater core, good heat on both sides. Is the temp gauge normal at the mid point range? If not, have you replaced the thermostat with a factory thermostat?

I haven't had any issues with it and have used it on the 2000+ cars where recommended. I recently bought a car that the previous owner attempted a bottle of HG repair several times. I had to blow out the heater core to get heat. but fortuantley everything else is OK. How many miles on your 03 LLBean? I have an O2 LLBean with 104 and so far all is OK.

The new motor is in. -
Nipper, sorry to hear about Blu. Hope everything else is OK. I have one 2000 with a 2.5 and an 02 with the H6. I realy like the H6 both on the highway and local. I get about 20-25 on the H6 and about the same on the older 2.5 with 236K on the clock. The H6 has clearly been less maint. You have to keep your ear on the idler bearings as mentioned in many posts here. Good luck and enjoy the ride of the 00+ Subies.

picked it up today and the codes are: PO301 PO303 PO306 PO305 PO172 runs like crap. Barely got it to the shop today and it was only 7 miles. I will see if it is a electrical or mechanical issue. -

I just found out an 05 3.0 from an outback uses a different alt/gen. The 06 has the same alt/gen as the Tribeca so it looks like I may go that route instead so I can reuse that and maybe other parts. -

I just bought it like this and the owner said that she was 2-3 qts down after a fresh oil change. She said that she thought that the oil change place didn't put the oill cap back on the motor. Now it runs really bad and the CEL is on. idles OK, but barely drivable (super underpowered). I will know more tomorrow. I was looking at putting in a 05 3.0 out of an outback in it. Looks like it will fit. Anybody done one of these? -

Ivan, Just out of curiosity, will other 3.0's work as well? I have the original motor still in the car. It appears she ran it without the oil cap on after an oil change and now it smokes at start up and it seems like half of the motor is not running. I will get the CEL's Monday. -

Found this: EZ30D: 2999CC DOHC, 245ps (180 kW) @6600 rpm, 297Nm@4200 rpm. Bore 89.2 mm, Stroke 80 mm. Compression 10.7:1. This version had one exhaust port per cylinder, a drive-by-wire throttle, a black plastic intake manifold, VVL and AVCS. It was available in manual and automatic unlike the old EZ30D. Found in the 2003–2009 Legacy 3.0R, Outback 3.0R and 2006–2007 Tribeca. It looks like a 03 - 09 legacy/outback may work in a Tribeca? Anybody?? -
I have a pretty nice 95 wagon that will be for sale in a week or so. It is light green and clean inside and out. Cruise, defrost, A/C all works It has an automatic, 191K, fresh oil and filter, new lf wheel bearing, water pump, timing belt, idlers, plugs and cam O ring. One little spot of rust on the left fender above the wheel and that is it. Everything works and drives well. Came from Virgnia and has been in Wisconsin for about 5 years. Bought it from a guy last Thursday who bought it off his sister. He commuted with it on the highway everyday. It also needed a MAP sensor and a knock sensor which I replaced. No more codes and it drives well. I would sell it for $2500. Let me know. I'd rather sell it to a USMB member than someone I don't know off craigs list.
