go to cars 101 and you can get all of the info you need or look in your manual, but here is a quick summary. Using the Subaru keyless entry with optional alarm 1. Locking. Push the large button. This locks all the doors and will set the alarm (if equipped and in setable mode) 2. Unlocking. Push the small button once to unlock the driver's door and disarm alarm, if set. Push the small button a second time to unlock all the doors. 3. Honking horn? The horn honks once for lock and twice for unlock. This is optional. To turn it off or to turn it on unlock all the doors and hold *both* buttons down ubntil the horn honks. The horn will always honk 3 times if a door is not fully closed and you want to lock it. 5. Alarm. Valet mode or alarm off: alarm light (red dot center dashboard dispay) rapidly flashing 3 times means the alarm is in "Valet"mode and is not setable. The light will stop flashing when you start the car. Arming the alarm: to make an alarm in valet model arm-able, unlock all the doors and hold the small button down on the remote until the light stops flashing. Now when you lock the doors the alarm will be set and the light will flash on and off, on and off. 6. Alarm goes off? Push the small button on the remote or if you don't have the remote put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off three times.

P0325 knock sensor P0400 EGR P0500Veh speed sensor A malfunction P1507 Manuf control veh speed idle contraol aux input P9141 ???? don't know. Use the search function in USMB on the flashing 16 times. There is tons of info on it. Go to cars 101 or search here it and it will tell you how to make the alarm system work without having to cut wires. the last guy was Kinda lame if you ask me. YOu may want list more info. We all assume you have an automatic, but it would be good to know for sure. How many miles on your car? I wouldn't replace a bunch of stuff until you get the vacuume lines hooked up with the proper size hoses Good luck!

I won't buy them unless I can get them for $500 at that stage of the game. I end up finding too much that I want to replace to put them back on the road. I take what they are worth, what I need to put in them and go backwards. That is what I end up offering. If you part it out, you might get more, but I like keeping them on the road. Just my 2 cents

I just picked up a 98 outback with a bad 2.5 motor. It is a 5 speed. I have a 2.2 nearby for the transplant, but it came form an automatic. Is that a problem or does the transplant 2.2 have to be a 5 speed? I assume I can just plug the egr and the 98 5 speed won't be looking for that or am I wrong? Thanks

Great info!!! -
Don't agrgee with the last post. Over the last bunch of years personally and for work,I have had an xt coupe, 2 -95 wagons, 2- 96 outback wagons, 1 98 forester, 2000 Outback wagon, and I own a 2002 LL Bean now. The 2000 and the 02 are the best ride and are awesome in the snow. Just regular all season radials on all of them. I haven't driven the new ones yet in the snow, but I can vouch for the 2000 and 2002 which we have still. The 2000 has 227K on it and the 02 has 110K. I rescue (HG) the 96-99 wagons all of the time and they drive great in the snow, but not as smooth as the 00 and 02. My 2 cents :drunk:

It is in good condition. It came extra with a car I just bought and repaired the HG. The previous owner though it was a bad radiator, but it was bad HG instead. So he kept the radiator. It is in the new radiator box. I will be in Indy next week for a Business meeting if you are interested. Leaving for a trip out to San Fran tomorrow AM early though, so let me know before Monday and I could just bring it if you are interested.

I have a 99 legacy wagon with a water leak on the drivers side. I read up on this on the board and I have narrowed it down to the sunroof. Here is why I think that. I found an decomposing acorn in the left side sunroof drain hole that was clogging the drain. I removed it and less water came in when I poured water over the sunroof. It still comes down the "A" pillar and leaks out in front of the fuse box and into the drivers side pan area. I poured water in the drain hole by the wipers and no water in the pan area. If I pour it in the sunroof tray area, it leaks in the pan area. It also comes out on the ground, so it isn't completely clogged. I have tried blowing it out with an air compressor tip. When I do that, water comes out a little on the ground and into the pan, but not much. I could put a fish tape in next to make sure it isn't clogged, but my question is, where is the line that goes from the drain hole in the sunroof to the ground and how do I check to see if it even hooked up prpoerly. Could the seal at teh drain hole be leaking and how and what do you all think might be the next best steps might be? Thanks

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the 2.5's, but if the motor is higher in miles 2.2 or 2.5, why not replace it with a lower mile engine. The 2.5's of that era are kind of hard to find due to either poor maitenance or the HG issue that hasn't been dealt with properly. So a 2.2 with lower miles is a decent alternative. If the 2.5 is running great and he has the time and wants to put her back in great! Best of luck whichever direction you go.
