On Star?

Ferret, You're probably right on track with your observation. I've seen after market On Star units but they all state that they're for GM vehicles. Just thought that it would be a good option to have. Thanks for your reply! -
Welcome from another relatively new member! I always was impressed with the Subaur's all-wheel-drive and the boxer engine design. I have to admit that this car handles extremely well! I'm currently trying to see if there's anyone who makes an after market heavy duty bumper for the Forester mainly because of all of the deer we have down here! My wife already hit one and I've had too many close calls myself!!!

I know this subject has been discussed previously and I've read the posts on this question. My concern is we just recently took delivery of our 2005 Forester SX and I really don't want to re-wire anything while under warranty for fear of voiding it. I was wondering if just finding the relay that controls the Fog Lights and installing a jumper would do the trick. I ask this because I have a Dodge Ram and have my Fog lights working with the high beams by having a wire between two of the pin locations for that relay. ( This was researched by some club members. ) Just wondering if the saem could be done with the 05 Forester???

Does anyone know of an after market, heavy duty bumper for the Forester???? I'm looking for something that can with stand a deer hit. They make these kind of bumpers for pickup trucks. I have one on my truck. Outfits like Denver-Off-Road, Buck Stop and Road Armor. With all of the deer we have roaming around here, I'd like some protection on the Forester. Thanks in advance.

From what I've seen at my local dealership, "Brown Toyota Subaru", they take customer satisfaction to an entire new level that I never experienced before. Every customer is greeted by the mechanic that performed what ever work was needed on their vehicle. They go over all symptoms, concerns and future preventative maintenance. As I said,,, so far,,, they seem like they really have their act together! This dealership is located in Charlottesville, VA.

That article is a real eye opener. We just bought an 05 Forester SX. During the test drive I took the Forester down a section of road the winds down a mountain in a slalom effect. My first pass was faster than I would normally drive this route with little braking. The car went down with no body lean and handeled perfectly. So much so,,, that I drove back up and went down a second time. On this second pass, I approached the down grade at normal speeds and didn't brake at all. All I can say is this vehicle felt like a,, "Slot Car". I couldn't believe how well this Forester handeled! Needless to say,,,,,, I was sold!

We just bought an 05 Forester. My wife also wants a remote starter. We asked our dealer if they could install a unit so the warranty wouldn't be in jeporady if the remote starter caused any electrical issues down the road. They told us that they would reccomend a shop in our area that specializes in these units and they would recognize the unit as a dealer installed option so there wouldn't be any trouble with our standard and extended warranties. Just food for thought.

Usually,,,,, when you report a potential problem while the car is under warranty, (even if they didn't find any problem) and it re-occurs after the warranty expires, they should cover the repair! I had similar experiences on more than one occasion where the dealer honored / grandfathered the repair.
