  1. You know what; that is the one I saw on there. Eugene is when it started popping up on the "close" to this location search on craigslist. The last owner put a lot of effort into it.
  2. You bought the brat lee from up in Eugene area? And congrats on getting the brat!
  3. Where is the rust present in the bed on the non-parts one? I have the line between the cab and the bed I'll be working on mine this weekend... need to sand it down, treat it for rust to be sure I get it all, then using fiberglass filler there since the holes are quite small, then sanding, then priming, and then will be adding the roll on bed liner. The rest of the bed - I need to pull up the old seam sealer, sand, treat for rust, sand, primer, reseal, sand more flush, primer again... and there is some surface rust that needs to be sanded. Going to be a project, but need to get the bed done and ready before it starts raining.
  4. But after reading again; yes you can just cut and weld in or find a professional to do the welding. You, or they, will have to clean up the area around the weld points. Doing panel to panel will result in a better look most of the time though.
  5. Most of the panels you can get direct from an OEM parts dealer, some of the panels can be expensive... so in some cases if you have access to a parts brat you can cut (but usually parts brats are rust buckets also).

  8. I just bought EMPI/Empire axles for by '84 Brat - they are really nice so far. www.rockauto.com seems to have them for your 2008 (if I looked it up right) for ~$60.00 and no core cost.
  9. Yeah, that is another thing I need to find - a roll bar.
  10. I think I have decided on getting the chrome sand blasted and powder coated. I wish I had a machine that could lathe out rubber molding.
  11. '84 Subaru Brat. Did some exploration on the rusted rocker panels, they need to be replaced very soon (next month). Mounted a side side step on the driver side. Removed the removable panels from the bed, stripped them, sanded them, applied primer to them... applying bed liner to them tomorrow. Also vacuumed out the debris in the space between the bed and the rear fenders. Hope I will be able to find a shop that can cut out the old rusted rockers and weld in the new ones for cheap; that is in my August budget and should be the last major repair work needing to be done. Rest from there on out will be technically upgrades.
  12. I just purchased an '84 Brat 2 weeks ago and it is my daily driver; wife is using the '00 Impreza as her's. Lack of power? None; the car is lighter-weight than most vehicles these days so the low HP engine is not crippled.
  13. Holy bejesus! That was one crazy starting point...
  14. I'm going to suggest www.rockauto.com or www.partsgeek.com for the axles. I got some EMPI axles for my Subaru Brat and have been happy with them.
  15. I was looking into getting the 4x140 to 5x205 adapter plates and using some larger wheels; but the pretty VW 5-wides tend to have the wrong offset.
  16. The link from capn_r is THE list of all brands, sizes, and makes of wheels that will work on the 4x140 lug pattern - minus a couple that are stupidly more rare than rare.
  17. Plastic Grommet (Square) - Subaru OEM Part Number = 791017130 Then there is a round grommet for the corner bits... no idea what that part number is.
  18. I am still trying to locate some rubber pinch-weld molding that sticks out an extra 2" on one side in order to cover up the screw holes. Nothing yet; really looks like I will probably take mine off, sand them down, and cover with something. this guys end result looks decent enough:
  19. Knowledge of something is search engine power. https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8180/8038095172_6d102b9e40_z.jpg Appears to be part of the bed though, not something that bolts down.
  20. I have looked at tons of pictures of Brats and have yet to find one without the chrome... The trim I have is somewhat beat-up and running bed liner over it wouldn't be a shame. Was just trying to find something that would be a but more solid and a cover the screw holes and pinch weld... I may try to form a piece of aluminum over the weld and screw it down after covering it with bed liner.
  21. Let me start by saying that I used the search function and found a few older threads with not much information about them; and instead of resurrecting I have decided to make a new thread to approach this subject. To the subject... Has anyone found an alternative to the chrome bed trim that our Brats use? I have been looking at weather stripping and all sorts of things trying to come up with something wide enough and tall enough; but have yet to find a suitable match. My other option would be to pull the chrome off, sand it all down, and run bed liner over it too. But I was looking for something aftermarket, that was a bolt on replacement in non-chrome. Any ideas? They would be appreciated. Thanks!
  22. SJR responded to my questions just days ago - maybe give him a day or two to respond?
  23. Very kind of you to post! Would love to see this done with a lot of parts for a lot of vehicles.
