Hi there. I just used Seafoam for the first time in my life in my 83 Brat. I was hesitant to put in my oil but sounds like everything worked out ok for you? I was thinking of putting 1/3 of the bottle in the oil this weekend and do oil change on Sunday.

Thanks for the Input. There is a mechanic very close to me that just replaced my 2 front axles and helped diagnose an issue with one of my gauges; They seemed excited to work on my car. I'll just keep taking it to them. They specialize in Volkswagen but work on Subaru's and Porsche's too. This other guy just sounded like he was more into Brats because he owns a few and his shop specializes in Subaru's.

Hey Internet Subie Team, I purchased an 83 Brat recently and wanted to take it in for a tune up and inspection to discuss any work that they see which I can start planning for. I emailed the mechanic who is very well respected in our town as "the" subaru guy. He referred me to his 2nd location, which is much further away and told me that they would not see my car on a Saturday (web site says they are open on Saturday) and that they could not give me any estimates on a tune up and inspection unless I took my car to the 2nd location. He also indicated that because my car was 31 years old that the other location may not work on my car at all. Is this normal? I've never been denied work on any car I've ever owned, and I've always had cars from the 80's and 90's. Seems weird that they wouldn't look at my car on a saturday either. How long could it take to give my car a look over and come up with an estimate on a tune up and further inspection? I am certainly no mechanic so this may be totally normal, just wanted the feedback of the Subaru Community.

I might cruise up on Saturday. I wish I could meetup with the convoy from Portland on Friday, but I can't get the day off of work.

He ripped out the carpet, so wanted to get something down that's durable and fits.. not some standard carpet kit. Also, the seats are in fine shape, but I'd love to put something a little more modern. The Stereo is complete crap, but I don't want to cut holes into the doors or anything dramatic. I have a good friend who can help me to build some custom box to fit behind the seats. Dash is cracked in all kinds of ways, which is expected and typical. I don't know if it's even possible to find a new dash, but that's on my fantasy wishlist. And, yes. The Prior owner had it for 4 years and has done a lot of work on the engine and removed almost all of the rust.

Nope, got mine in Hood River. Wouldn't surprise me if there were others out there in the Eugene area with similar paint jobs.

I fell in love with a Subaru Brat a few years ago while at a stop light. Ever since then, I've been looking for one in decent shape. I found this "Brat lee" and now am now the proud owner. I don't have a ton of pics yet, but here I am getting ready for a test drive. Has the back seats and body in great shape. Interior needs some help so I'm hoping this forum will introduce me to some people in Portland,OR area who can help me down the right path.
