  1. I haven't got a new filter yet, but it doesn't look like that for a coupple of reasons: the ring doesn't fit in the area and it has nothing to seal to, it would be a filter with a hole in it, making it very counter-productive I only found half of a ring, there would have to be a second ring on the other side of the screen, meaning that a whole very large plastic ring and half of another one dissapeared somehow. I think maybe it is a spacer or washer for the planetary gears somehow. I took out the oil pan and removed the metal block containing the oil passages in it, I didn't take the planetarys out or anything like that, maybe the ring came from there.
  2. How about my brat? my link's at the bottom of my post, second photo.
  3. so, the best way to do it is with the ej transmission. anybody know where to get a dual-range legacy tranny?
  4. which one, using the ea82 tranny idea or the 2.2 swap all-together?
  5. so nobody thinks using an ea82 tranny is a good idea? and a 2.2 swap isn't worth the trouble? AK
  6. BUMP. the 6inch lift and nissan t-case is out, I wouldn't even know how to start that. so, who makes the adaptor here? are you guys sure that I shouldn't use the ea82 tranny, it doesn't seem like it wouldn't work well.
  7. sorry to bring back an old post, but: I want to get this straight the 2.2 swap has 2 main options, ea82 tranny or ej tranny: the ej tranny, make all custom mounts, use turbo coupe axles? for the front (thats it?) and shorten the driveshaft in the back, loose low range and this looks harder, lo range legacy tranny hard to find. the ea82 tranny, no instalation problem with transmission, use engine adapter from kenedy or from a board member, the transmission might fail, or the adapter might move the engine too far ahead for the radiator. looks much simpler, though, and you keep low range. couple of questions, Who is the board member that makes the adaptor kit and some info about it ($?) What subaru are the turbo coupe axles from? I think that the EA82 transmission can take it, the 2.2 is 145 hp right? lots of people on the board have ea82 turbos that are pulling more than that, it's the same power as an xt6 also. as said earlier, kenedy is saying that the tranny can't take it because they are thinking in heavy racing full power stuff. what is your opinion on this? AK
  8. yes, the rx's low gear is higher than the others, not sure how much though, but it is definatly different. (more than enough to notice I think)
  9. I have a SnugTop, it's white with black along the bottom and it's a low top. I don't know anything other than that.
  10. I think 200 to 250 is the most it could take
  11. My brat has topped the speedo (85) and it still goes alittle faster, I guess it has a max of 90 maybe.
  12. on xt6.org it says that the xt6 transmission "is said" to be able to take 400 hp. I don't think this is really true, at least not to 400. what are your opinions?
  13. first is 3.545 4wd is 1:1 Lo is?, sorry I am at school, don't have access to my "databank" at home.
  14. okay, here are my family's impact stories: deer vs. 2.5RS/ mom hit it at 25-30? almost three grand of damage, deer dead, tasty. Brat vs. cat/ cat ran into wheel, knocked off trim ring, cat looked okay, ran off deer vs. sunbeam/ sunbeam hit deer, slight denting on "the tank", deer pulverized, tasty 84 ranger vs. chicken/ chicken jumped off of bank (road cut into mountainside) slammed directly into grill. the chicken was not okay. And NO, we didn't eat it.
  15. thats what the manual says, I can't recheck because it's at my dads. it was a table with engine facts, here's what I remember. spfi, 9.5:1= 90hp mpfi, 9.0:1=94hp mpfi, 9.5:1=97hp
  16. If you are not going to swap in a turbo, a 87+ MPFI looks like the best, from my manual it says that after 86, the mpfi's are 9.5:1, they are 97 hp.
  17. kinda like my dad's 64' sunbeam alpine, he hit a deer and because of the thick body metal and tank-like construction, he had some scratched paint (from a hoof, probably) and a very small dent in the bumper, wasn't even worth fixing, he touched-up the paint though. that cars like a tank!
  18. I think it has a 3 speed because the shifter is only a D,2,1 and I haven't heard it shift past third.
  19. That will be hard, when I origonally checked it was too low to get any fluid on the dipstick so i had to put a whole bottle of fluid in it to finally get it back up to normal, i checked it then and it seemed okay but the new fluid might have diluted down what I should have found. The new dexron didn't make any difference, it still does it. The Loyale pulls 4,000-4,500 rpm while it does 65 mph, is this normal?
  20. My dads 92 auto loyale has some tranny problems. It has 230,000 miles on it. When put in reverse sometimes it's like it jumps in and out of gear rapidly for a couple of seconds while moving, It only does it before it's completly warmed up. it might have done it in drive once too. (it didn't) what's screwed up? (UPDATE) I took it apart to check the oil passages and I found this out: none of the oil passages were Clogged, everything was generally clean, I cleaned it anyway. there is a hole about the size of a fifty cent piece in the filter, no fragments of the missing filter could be found. I also found half of a black plastic ring in the filter, it's about 2 and 2/3 inches in diameter and the diameter of the hole is about 2 and 1/3. any idea what the ring goes to?
  21. My dads 79 TR7 did that too, and the clutch did also, check it out on page four of my brat page, we are putting a 231 V-6 in it.
  22. I wasn't after classic plates, I just wanted to know how long untill i have a classic on my hands. 84 Brat = I got awhile.
  23. does anybody know what it takes to make a car a classic? I heard somewhere it was like 20-25 years. what do you think about antique, 50? if any car deserves to be a classic, it's a Brat. I tried researching this but I couldn't find anything but a bunch of sites for muscle cars.
