  1. Thank you. She says It does run and has a cracked head. I agree that they probably dont know for sure its a cracked head. car: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3641701636070190/?referralSurface=messenger_lightspeed_banner&referralCode=messenger_banner engine i found https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/451568884474460/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3Ab67ead0b-ab41-40e5-a383-715ad38ce71f i have pulled both a 2.2 and a 2.5 before and did the head gaskets and timing belts . I think the car is nice . Seems high for it without a good engine. IDK the price of a good 2.2 . What should it be?
  2. (Dirt cheap and then drop a 95 2.2 into it. ) Is it plug and play? I found a 93 2.2 with 80k miles on it?
  3. Found a low mileage 1997 legacy outback that looks nice. Havent laid eyes on it yet, just seen on the internet. Nice price.. She says it runs but has a cracked head. I can do the work. I figure i can find another head or both or whatever. What pitfalls should i be aware of. Should i steer clear of this purchase. ?
  4. Ive pulled a 2.2 and a 2.5 engines before. Did the Head gasket and timing belt. But never with the 4 cams. The 2.5 i did was a 2001 model. is the 2.2 plug and play with the 2.5 transmission?
  5. Body looks good.. Havent seen frame,, and they didnt mention it. Car is 2 hrs from here.
  6. car has 127k miles Ad says does not run, needs timing belt. Selling it cheap. I can do head gaskets and timing belt/ water pump etc... They want 600 bucks. What should i expect . ? Would you just replace / get new heads and put em on? Is this worth it. Probably fix it and flip it. Im not sure what engine is in it.. 2.2 or 2.5
  7. wondering if the forester would fit, since same platform
  8. Friends subaru makes clunk noise over speed bump. Pulled wheel. Looked. All seems normal. But the driver side front lower control arm, rear bushing is fubar. Im looking on rock auto, but cant see a replacement. Is this subaru only part? Or am i looking in the wrong place? Thanks for any help. John Marietta OH
  9. Thanks for the replies guys.. I just assumed since its 12 yrs old , maybe the timing belt got brittle and broke due to age,,, despite the 95 k miles... I may be in the rust belt, but the pictures are clean,, like little old lady from Pittsburgh only drove it to church on sundays in the summer.
  10. I goofed up in original post ,, this thing is a 2008 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/301165857686285/ https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/301165857686285/
  11. 2003 outback wagon, 2.5 AT. 95,000 miles has a broken timing belt. Guy wants 2k for it,, Its clean with new tires. I priced new heads at $670. And I can do the replacement work. Is this worth it? Or is this going to require tearing the lower half of the engine apart too?
  12. any idea what price would be to have engine fixed? I would do timing waterpump and head gaskets.
  13. I found this car for sale locally. - 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Limited Sedan 4D. It has 105k miles. Ad says the engine started to knock and he parked it shortly after that. Should I stay away from this? I have done head gaskets with engine removed in my other 2.5. Would it be a matter of just getting heads re done? Or is this entail cracking the lower engine? etc.?
  14. Thanks for your reply idosubaru. Idk what happened. It went away. But it was flashing steady. Scared me.
  15. Need a lil help. I'm on side of the road. At temp light is flashing steady. Should I continue my trip,? 45 more min.? Is there anything I can do to help thing? It's a 2000 outback wagon.
  16. Ok I think I found it,, on top of the intake , after the butterfly and air box.. on top of the square middle of the air intake (cast aluminum) I ordered a cheap one. I can let ya all know if it works out ok. Its quite a bit cheaper than most places.
  17. Thanks Texan. I have reset it and this is the second time the p0113 has come up. The p0442 is new.
  18. Hi guys , resurrecting this topic. 2000 outback wagon, 2.5 automatic. 123 k miles CEL is on, pulled codes , got a P0442, and a P0113 From reading, my understanding is 0442 means I have a leak in my Filler tube? P0113, I have an idle air temp sensor bad? The car seems to idle fine. I have noticed loss of power and my fuel mileage seems worse. Any input is appreciated. If you have seen this enough to know exactly what the problem is,, Just spell it out what I should do. Thank you!!
  19. I have heard very good things about this stuff https://www.walmart.com/ip/303-30320-Aerospace-UV-Protectant-for-Plastic-Vinyl-Rubber-and-more-128-fl-oz/45626478?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227037595685&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=80431957009&wl4=pla-163774361821&wl5=1028333&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=45626478&wl13=&veh=sem&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIucvmjZD33QIVEL7ACh1QtAAkEAQYBCABEgKvKPD_BwE
  20. Bennie, Its that diff ,, that scares me. I can change a wheel bearing , I think I can change a u joint, And I know I can change a cv axle. But a differential is another animal. There is different noises. Ill try to take it for a ride and get an idea. But there is definitely a whine..
