ive been noticing a steering wobble in my 2001 outback it was there both before and after changing the front hubs i also tried a different set of tires and wheels the wobble remains. what can cause the wheel to wobble when driving? at slow speeds its a slow wobble and as u go faster the wheel wobbles faster. it has good lower ball joints and tie rods nothing seems loose in the suspension im just not sure what to look at from here.

so do i have to actually swap the valve or could i just swap the whole rear half of the case with the valve in it? im still not really sure if i need to but im guessing i should anyways while i have the transmission. ive been noticing some front wheel spin sometimes and been questioning if awd is working pr not. i think it is kind of because it wont keep spinning for long on wet grass but will spin sometimes on wet pavement and in gravel very easy. yet there is also a very noticeable difference between fwd fuse in and fwd fuse out so maby its just that im not used to the extra power and taller gears? i came from driving a 2.2 outback on 3.90 gear set to the 2.5 outback on 4.44.

im not sure i havent tried. i can say after i drove it for a bit i felt like it spun the front tires a few times it was raining but when i was at a friends house he let me pull it into his yard on the wet grass in a hill and i floored it and the car did not spin on the lawn it just bit down and went. *edit* i just went out into the gravel driveway without fwd fuse front spins for a second then bites and goes with fwd fuse in the fwd light comes on and it tears the driveway up roasting the front tires only. i do think the awd is working.

i passed on the 100 dollar one that was outside. the one i was asking about was the one i just bought so i hope it works. it has only been off the car for a few weeks and was kept in a garage i bought it from a subaru tech and it came from a 2004 outback 2.5 according to the info its a 4.44 transmission and should work just like the original im hoping. has 146,000 on it. ill know wensday if i made the right choice when i put the new transmission in

Ok just want to be sure I found a 2004 outback trans now for 150 the 2004 trans will work right? I dont k ow the ratio on this one thogh I'm guessing 4.44 I can look ot up later. I have both 4.11 and 4.44rear diffs The transmission I found is tz1a4zceba-3k I'm not sure the original but it will be going into a 2001 outback hope to hear from someone before this afternoon want to pick this up tonite

i have a 2001 outback it was a base model and has none of the plugs for stuff like heated seats heated mirrors rear/front tweeters. i know these plugs are located on the main body harness tail gate harness and both front door harnesses. my question here is if i were to swap these harnesses into my car from a doner 2002 outback limited would those options then work or is the dash wiring where it plugs in also different?

ive been looking i jsut dont have cash for one currently. exploring my options. i was almost going to trade the 1998 impreza for a low mile trans but then realized it was a 2006 transmission and wouldent have worked. yes i would trade a running car for a transmission exp when said car was a free car. i do know i could get more by selling it and buying a transmission but it needs more work before i would sell it.

heres the results. i did change the diff the transmission does work and does not set any codes seems to drive ok with light throttle/normal driving but under heavy throttle/acceleration scenarios it has some really funky shifts. engine can pull the gears ok doesn't seem to be slipping or struggling too hard. seems like i can drive it though until i find another good transmission. in the end this did not cost anything but time the h6 transmission and diff was free

well im getting ready to head back to the car to finish up. i guess ill just swap the diff and hope this transmission works out. wish i knew if i could drive it with the wrong diff and fwd fuse first to find out if it will work before doing the effort of changing the diff. but id rather not cause damage and i just dont know if it will with the fwd fuse in or not.

well today i did the swap the transmission is bolted in there now. i forgot thefluid here at home so did not fill it yet. will it cause damage to the 4.11 transmission if i were to run it with the 4.44 diff with the fwd fuse installed? id like to try to drive it before i swap the diff over as well just to find out if it all works before spending that extra effort. would like to figure it out before morning. im planning to go up there again tomarrow to finish it.
