  1. i think the teeth are whats broken on mine because i can here the motor turning and skipping on something inside. i got another mast form the yard today i think the motor was bad on the unit because my battery would not run the antenna motor while it would on another car that had something wrong with it and chose not to use that one. it started raining so now the cars out there with he rear taken apart and the antenna ready to come out.
  2. i have actually done what you want to do using over the counter parts. i took my old part into the store and sat there piecing together a few bends and straits until i had the whole section from half way back to the muffler and it cost somewhere around 40 bucks then i took it all to mu uncles and had him weld it all together. the hose clamp is just holding the exhaust mount to the new pipe. here is a picture of that autozone exhaust part isle piping on the car. the bends were cut smaller to fit the area. this car was just scrapped 5 days ago due to the rust and after donating all of the drive train to a newer car.
  3. how can i test a power antenna at the junk yard? what wires on the unit would i have to jump to test it?
  4. i was hoping to find a spot after the door so i wont have to get throgh the door rubber. i was also hoping the wires dont run throgh the ceiling would anyone know if the wires run throgh the ceiling or if they drop down and run along the floor? i have no issues tieing a fused relay in somewhere.
  5. i want to install a set of small fog lights under the rear bumper for extra reverse lights so it really lights up behind the car while reversing. where is the easiest location to get access to the wiring so i can tap into the reverse light wire and extend it down to the new lights?
  6. well i took it apart and re did it and now its very close im going to leave it like that i think its one tooth off on the splines and ill fix it when i decide to replace the rack. already have the new rack just dont feel like doing it yet.
  7. is there any bad effects of just removing the steering wheel and putting it back on strait?
  8. it is a 1998 outback. i think someone replaced the windshield in the past with the wrong one because the heating strips are definitely not there.
  9. i dont think so. i had a 95 and a friend of mine has an 02 both cars are different i think the 02 is wider tail lights are different shape how bad is it can it be bent back? ive done some crazy things with a come along and large hammer.
  10. i do not have a picture of it but i will explain. my car has heated mirrors that button is next to the mirror switch it has heated rear window button on dash it has heated seats 2 buttons near e-brake then it has another button in front of the heated seats with what looks like a heated wiper but my cars window does not have the heated strips in it. the switch lights up if i press it but nothing happens anywhere. is it a switch for heated wiper and someone replaced the window with a non heated version? where would the wires connect to the windshield? im guessing if i wanted this back id have to replace the windshield yes?
  11. abs is fixed. i installed a tone ring and put in a missing abs fuse. for future reference you can cut a tone ring in half and install the 2 halfs and have it work.
  12. well i learned the reason for this sensor code. today i pulled the rotor off to inspect and clean the sensor and i found there was no tone ring at all. the previous owner told me he replaced the drivers side hub im thinking he used a non abs hub or simply forgot to put the tone ring on it.
  13. Dam. Guess I'll have to buy one of those for the outback was really hoping to salvage that one.
  14. Will the universal joint that connects the steering to the rack swap between the legacy l wagon and the outback?
  15. i ran the abs check and got code 24 Abnormal ABS sensor, abnormal ABS sensor signal front left sensor. does this mean it just needs a new sensor?
  16. today i got the transmission driveshaft front axles rear diff and trans computer from the legacy l wagon. i also rotated the tires on the outback witch i think has changed the vibration somewhat. my plan is to do tires first if that doesn't fix it then its the driveshaft and front axles. if that doesn't fix it then the trans and diff go in and at that point it will have the whole drive line from the legacy if it goes that far.
  17. the only things left in the 95 that i wanted to keep but dont think will come out are the rear diff and the windsheild.
  18. the junk yard is sending something out wensday so i hope they bring a flat bed i told them it was a awd car its currently a nwd car got the transmission front axles and driveshaft out the rear diff is being a stubborn bastard thogh and the 2 bolts going into the back of it are not coming out there so rusty nothing fits them not even a strip nut socket.
  19. it is the legacy l wagon. the legacy had a vibration from the rear but i knew it was a bearing/right rear axle combo issue the front did not have vibrations.
  20. are the axles and driveshaft the same from a 95 legacy? i could still pull these parts i have until Wednesday to get parts off the car then the junk yards taking it. ive also been debating if i should pull the transmission and diff how hard is it to get this stuff out of the car would the axles and driveshaft fit the transmission and diff in the 98? i am going to try to rotate the tires tomorrow morning before i drive it to where the 95 is to get some other parts from it. also will the wheels stay on the other car without the axles in there? im not sure if the axle nuts are what holds things together or not. the 98 has 261000 miles on it the 95 witch is the doner car till wednesday has 211000 if i did take the transmission from the 95 for an in case situation will i need the transmission computer as well? and where is that
  21. update if i put the fwd fuse in the vibration is lessened but still there it actually starts to vibrate around 65 to 70 im starting to wonder if maby its the tires.
  22. i just got my 98 outback on the road took it on the highway and i noticed a very heavy vibration over 60mph if i stay below 60 its nott here all all it sort of sounds like a wheel bearing not not really the same sound if i let off the gas the vibration goes away but as soon as i start pressing the gas it comes back. i checked both front and rear diffs and they both have clean fluid and are full the driveshaft has a sort of sound in it like a click when i turn it back and forth but i dont see movement at the joints could the driveshaft be causing the vibration im having and if so will the driveshaft from my 95 legacy wagon fit the 98 outback?
  23. does anyone know if the 16 inch wheels from the 2000-2004 outbacks will fit and clear everything without rubbing on a 98 outback?
