are the axles and driveshaft the same from a 95 legacy? i could still pull these parts i have until Wednesday to get parts off the car then the junk yards taking it. ive also been debating if i should pull the transmission and diff how hard is it to get this stuff out of the car would the axles and driveshaft fit the transmission and diff in the 98? i am going to try to rotate the tires tomorrow morning before i drive it to where the 95 is to get some other parts from it. also will the wheels stay on the other car without the axles in there? im not sure if the axle nuts are what holds things together or not. the 98 has 261000 miles on it the 95 witch is the doner car till wednesday has 211000 if i did take the transmission from the 95 for an in case situation will i need the transmission computer as well? and where is that

i just got my 98 outback on the road took it on the highway and i noticed a very heavy vibration over 60mph if i stay below 60 its nott here all all it sort of sounds like a wheel bearing not not really the same sound if i let off the gas the vibration goes away but as soon as i start pressing the gas it comes back. i checked both front and rear diffs and they both have clean fluid and are full the driveshaft has a sort of sound in it like a click when i turn it back and forth but i dont see movement at the joints could the driveshaft be causing the vibration im having and if so will the driveshaft from my 95 legacy wagon fit the 98 outback?

started working on the new car at 9 this morning had the engine out by noon and new one in and running by 4pm i call that a good days work. just the interior bits need to be swapped out now. old one coming out new one going in all together running dont mind my blue coil pack i had suspected it of having a crack and arking and coated it with a tube of silicon because i had no money at the time and it was not even the issue so its just blue now.

i dont mind pulling the parts engines already out once i have the new car running im also pulling the trans and diff from it just in case im also swapping most of the interior and if i can get the windshield out im also taking that because the new one has a cracked windshield and the old car will go to the scrap yard when finished.

thank you everyone that responded the car is at my uncles now and i do not have service there so i wont be able to update until later tonite.right now from what im reading the engine is sitting there attached by the corrosion and thats it. this whole processes went alot smoother and faster than i first thought it would only took 2 and a half hours to get to here and i only broke the stupid bolt for the a/c belt shield.

i spent the last few hours at my uncles house starting the job of pulling the 2.2 motor from the 95 legacy i currently have jus about everything off and would like to know if there is more than 4 bolts that hold the engine to the trans? i have removed the starter and the nut lower down on the drivers side as well as the bolt near the top and lower down nut on the passenger side i cannot see any other bolts but would like to confirm this before i attach a hoist and start trying to pull the motor out.

i know went from the cross member to a whole car. i left out the details about mine that the rear half of the body is also full of rust and if i replace the cross member ill probly only buy it another 3 or 4 years the new cars body should last alot longer and at the price of 200 bucks i cant pass it up.

how future mad did i just make myself? i just got back from looking at a 98 outback with bad head gaskets and my plan is going to pull the engine from my 95 and put it into the 98. both cars are auto will the 2.2 motor swap into the 98 outback? the outback has the 2.5 motor will the transmission bolt in? will i need to swap wiring harnesses and computers? how much aggravation did i just put upon myself?

so i have been slowly collecting wood trim bits and making a full set for my 95 legacy wagon so far have the 4 window trims the center vent trim the radio trim and the shiftier trim. i have not yet found the wood trim ash tray and the question i have is are there even side vents with the wood trim available? i have been searching for almost 2 years to acquire the parts i have now not that i haven't seen these parts before just that i haven't found a set until this morning that was not broken form someone ripping them off in the yard. but i have never seen the left and right vent trim parts with the wood on them so do they even exist?

this but i dont know about the lucas. i tried lucas in mine but did so before the 3 drain and fills and my trans did not like the lucas and shifted weird with it in there i was afraid of the drain and fill because of not knowing how long its been but my fluid was clean and people here told me the transmissions respond very well to drain and fills so i did and did not add a lucas when finished. im happy with the results.

ill tell ya what if your afraid of it take it out and send it to me ill burn that gas i have no problem burning 1 year old gas in my car ive used gas older than this before without issues. i bought my first car after sitting for 4 years and drove it away on the gas that was in it. when i bought my subaru it had a half tank of year and a half old gas in it witch i ran through till empty before refilling it.sure it wont be as efficient it wont make as much power as fresh gas but the likelihood of it ruining something is not very high on the scale. like i said if you dont want it bring it here and dump it in my car ill gladly use it up.

i see the problem now. unplug the green wire that is attached to it currently and then plug that loose green wire in where the other one was. i dont know why subaru did that but that green wire thats with the black wire does not go to anything it ends at the plug. the loose green wire is the actual power for the lighter.
