I wish I was closer too. Looks like your gonna get a lot of good mud shots.
-
Of course the more the merrier. Since my friend wade got a fatty truck this summer we are probably gonna have a few different offroad trips. One to raidersburg for sure to do some sand dune brawling. Then there always the weekend camping and bralwing sessions. So is the turbo super suby running good? Good enough to go flog some mud, since its been raining here non stop? O wait you have all terrains scratch the mud idea. Maybe you could get some swampers for those 14in steels.

So we had the awards ceremony last night at outside bozeman headquarters. I won $150 bucks worth of labor at my suby mechanics. So theres my weber install. I also got a bunch of cool schwag. Like a coffee mug, stickers, fly fishing flies, and an outside bozeman t shirt. it was a good time had by all. They said that they might put a page on outsidebozeman.com that is dedicated to subarus. You know I'll have some pics and even video on their site soon. Im sure I'll have a suby tale for next year too. BTW- I talked to one of the head guys at outside bozeman and hes got a solid front axle yota with 31in tires and a 2in lift. So I'm sure I can convince him to go on an offroad adventure and get it covered in the magazine.

Yeah I uploaded that video a while ago. I have seen an offroaded xt6 before. Solid front axle. That video was fun to make. And you can bet there will be another video this fall.

It would be cool if you could take some pics of the weber install. And maybe do a write up. The write up thats in the usrm sucks. We need detailed write up of how to install a weber. Maybe pointers to which lines are which. Some of us are not mechanically inclined. I want to install my weber so I don't have to pay my mechanic to do it. But I can't find a good weber install write up. Thanks

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subaru-Brat-DL-GL-4WD-MONROE-Front-Struts_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33590QQitemZ8052294396QQrdZ1 These look like a nice replacment for my front struts. It says they fit 1982-84 4wd sedan and wagon. But my wagon is 1981. They should fit. Arent all EA81 suspension the same? Thanks

Two XT6s just arrived at Lynnwood PAP

I am looking for the right rear control arm of the suspension. I bent my whole arm hitting a concrete and steel manhole. I need the control arm and I think the black skinny bar that zig zags under the suspension is bent too. So how much for the control arm and black zig zag link(I think its the rear sway bar), plus shipping plus however much you think for taking off the suspension parts? Thanks -
what he has there - look in the pic...

I think its a trip computer. Tells miles traveled, temp, avg speed, and a few other things. -
cool scenery. I bet that trail would be really muddy after a rain storm.

Need advice on replacing my rear shocks on EA81.
A DOG replied to A DOG's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Awesome. That will help with more up and down travel. So what size am I gonna shoot for and what brand? Do shocks come in mm or inches? Any suggestions from the suby offroad gurus? -
I have a Mud Terrain tire that isn't on the tire list. Hankook MT RT01 215/75/15 Off Road **** On Road ***** Tread Life ***** Price ***** Off Road these tires rock. I've taken them through thick mud, snow, gravel and yes even rocks. They have really good mud terrain lug pattern that will grip any condition except Ice of course. On road these tires are amazing. They are specially designed to be very quite on road. I can't even hear until I take a high speed turn. The tread life seems pretty good. Even during a hot summer I rocked them and they didn't wear very much at all. Maybe that's because they were made for a heavier truck not a light grocery wagon. They are made of a harder rubber than the swampers. They arent as wide as the swampers, but they rule on a suby. An awesome tire for the price. Also optional studs.

Great weekend rallycrossing in Oregon

DAMN! That thing is sick. If only it was the H6 3.0 Outback. -
Who has 15" wheels, pros/cons?
A DOG replied to ausubaru92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I rock 15in wheels on my lifted wagon. Theres more tire selection with 14in and 15in rims. A wider stance, and better handling. Plus subies look cool with bigger rims than stock 13s. -
Thanks! It was a contest so I won something but I don't know what yet. They said it could be mountain biking gear, kayaking gear, skiiing gear, and my suby mechanic even has free oil changes for a year as a prize too. I can't wait till summer camping season.
-
DAMN!!! That trail is sooo sick. I wish we had lush mud trails here, but no its to dry here. I'll give it to ya your group shots are kick rump roast. That FJ60 looks like an Elephant next to those subies. That water hole was allright, but if you went back there after a rain storm that would be a killer water hole. Keep on keepin on.

Recently there was a suby tales contest in outside Bozeman magazine. A contest dedicated to the mighty subaru and its amazing encouters with nature, man, and mayhem. I sent in a story of why and how I made my suby a Mountain Patrol subaru. With a pic of my wagon on an island. My friend wrote a story about hunting the great snow yeti then getting stuck in the process, but they didn't put that story in there just the pic. There were some other really good subaru tales too. I can't wait to do it again next year. So heres the cover of the magazine: And heres the page with my story on it: Heres my story in case you can't read it: I love subarus. Ever since I got my first 1988 Subaru DL I was hooked. Now I own two subarus. My friends and I love going camping in the summer. But there are some camping spots that are deep within the montana woods. So in order to get to some of them you need a more offroad friendly car. So I did a few mods to my 1981 Subaru GL wagon to make it a one of a kind mountain patrol Subaru. First I did a 3in lift on it from www.ozified.com, then I had my hubs redrilled to a different lug pattern so I could get bigger rims and offroad tires. I also got a custom offroad bumper so that I could protect myself and my suby from trees and most of all deer. I had to add a CB radio so if I got stranded I would have some way of getting help. So this isn’t a suby tale its more of a story about one Subaru and its owners quest for greatness. May the stars be with you.

My first subaru was "The Roach" it was a 1988 DL wagon. My lifted wagon is "Mountain Patrol". I havent named my XT6 yet.

A DOG replied to A DOG's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wait a minute the EA82s DR tranny has a lower LO? I thought they were the same as EA81s. IF so I guess thats the next mod. Also with a 5sp maybe I'll be able to go 70mph. -
need help finding replacement clutch for offroad.(EA81)
A DOG replied to A DOG's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks for the info, but I don't want to have to swap in a 5sp just to get a better clutch. Can you buy a rebuilt NAPA clutch then put an XT6 PP on it? Any suggestions? -
So my clutch is toast on the lifted wagon so I need a clutch that is a direct replacement. Mainly because My friend and I are gonna replace the clutch so we need one that is an oem replacment. But I need one better than a stock one. I need something that'll push 29in tires with only a weber behind it. What do you other lifted subies guys use for a clutch?
