I have heard a lot about these things and they are supposed to work really well. But has anyone tried it? http://www.vortexvalve.com/installs/subaru/ Has install instructions and pics. I see how it could work but how well?

So I just scored a 1990 legacy wagon with 230,000 miles on it. It runs great. Doesn't leak anything. Doesn't tick at all. Its a 5sp with sunroof. Anyway I was just wondering what the options for modding a 1990 legacy wagon are. I've looked around a few sites and can't find much. I am gonna do a whole engine transplant with an EJ22TT or just a single turbo. But for now what are my options as far as suspension, and drivetrain parts? Also anyone know where to get headers for a 1990 EJ22? I am gonna do all the normal things to eek out power like: Accel super coil optima battery new plugs and wires new distributer cap and rotor K&N air filter full exhaust anyone know where to get better injectors? Anything else I should be doing, or any good website suggestions? Thanks

Welcome to the toyota family! That is one good lookin 4Runner. Kinda like mine. Your gonna love the turbo 4runner. Probably need a manual tranny though. But yeah they will brawl anything even with IFS. Good luck on the SAS its pretty easy stuff. Gonna take it wheelin this weekend?

I found it always helps to push in the clutch whenever your going into or out of 4WD.

Offroad Videos Walker Valley Soobies plus Toys

Thats a better way to go. I'm gonna do the same eventually . I can't even use 4th, unless I'm going downhill. I mean that black hatch that got the back chopped off of it. -

Great videos guys! Zapar looks like you need to weld up that rear end, and get a new tail light:lol:. That FJ is just too big. I give mad props to the driver. But that front bumper is useless. It looks like a small tree . Toyota tail lights got owned. That hatch brat does pretty good in the mud (probably cause its so light.) Keep on wheelin -
Where was this taken at? It looks pretty cool. Go hit it up in the snow.

Kewl pics. So how did those tires do in the mud.

removing backing plate question

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm gonna be working on my XT6 all this week in order to have it ready for winter. PB blaster is brake cleaner right? -
I have to replace my bent right rear XT6 control arm with a gl10 arm. So I'm in the process of taking off the backing plate on the gl10 arm so I can swap on all the XT6 brake stuff. Well the sucker wont come off of their. I've taken off all three bolts and tried prying on it and it wont budge. I stick a pry bar in their to bend them apart and it doesn't go. Is there a special trick to getting these off? Is there a spot weld or two on them? Thanks

Damn rear e brake and sway bars that thing is gonna DRIFT! well maybe with a turbo. It should be a lot of fun in the winter. Great job on it. I'm sure it took a lot of work.

My hood is 5ft tall:cool: . Your right though I probably wouldn't have made it. I can always dream. If the second pit was 6ft deep that's like suicide with a suby. Did anyone just go around the first pit then bomb into the deep one? I would have dunked into the deep pit just for the crowd. Seriously though I do want to brawl at evans creek and reiters sometime really bad. -

OOOooooooooo your gonna get it. I know my yota wouldn't have gotten stuck . Or at least I would have been able to back out. welded rear diff. BTW: that one yota that like jumped into the pit and stopped right away was a horrible driver. Ease into the pit then mash the throttle. -

Roundthebend STFU Zapar is the man and always will be. What have YOU done to help out the subaru community over the past 20 years. Eric has been there for hundreds of subaru freaks to lend a helping hand and share his knowledge on subarus whenever needed. Zapar was an original hatch patroler that sparked hundreds of lifted subies all over the USA. Not to mention I know he has went all over the place just to help a fellow USMB member with their suby. Hes what all of us other suby freaks want to be. Thanks for everything Zapar. -
The positive side of WCSS, the fun stuff.

I just wanted to say good job everybody! I'm very sad I didn't get to go, but it looks like a good time was had by all. I am sad to hear about the roudy hooligans and other obsenities. I'm glad that this community is still very strong in all the areas of subaruness. For example I saw pics of awesome subies of all different types. I love the pics so far. I also noticed that there were a few yotas there. Well maybe next year I'll bring my yota and a street suby so I'm not completely unwanted. I LOVE the video of Noah pulling out the stuck yota. That's a good tow strap. My yota wouldn't have gotten stuck:cool: . I hope there are many more subaru shows to come. BTW: If we had an event that was like for forum members only that might eliminate some of the roudy people. Considering we all know not be noisy or roudy or do doughnuts. -
I sold my EA81 mountain patrol for $1500. It had all the goods. I think you could get 1500 - 1700 for it. You need to find someone whos interested in old soobs. otherwise you wont get more than 1200.

That thing is really cool. It would be really sweet if the rear gate still opens. Why didn't they make one of those from factory. haul your ATV and passengers. -
22in is a lot of lift. My 4runner has 10in of lift and I wouldn't want anymore than that. 22in of lift you could fit like 52in michelins. Good thing montana doens't have many lift laws.
