4EAT to EA81
oh yea just so you know. my wagon at 80mph wasnt turning fast enough to keep that speed without hunting gears. at 90mph the cruse worked fine but at 80 it would hunt a bit as it was not making enough power... cool thing is milage should be awsome from this setup on the freeway.

costco winch deal...
not shure of the track record but with 6 mounth return policy who cares. also it seamed to work well we tryed it out like this drove a 7in lifted toyota 4runner (36x12x15) aired down to 2lbs rear and 4lbs front. welded rear and front. and drove it into the snow till it was sunk up to the doors then hooked to tree and let go with the winch. seamed to work just fine. just make shure your battery and alt are up to it...

exhaust idea
ok so im thinking what if you put a turbo up pipe on a non turbo (of course after fitting the turbo crossmember) or using a turbo car you made the exhost a snorkel deal where it came out of the hood and up the a pillar then down the roof i guess a muffler on the roof somewhere. but anyway would keep it out of the water, you could seal up the underside of the engine compartment more. ,,,,,,

4.44's are HERE!!
so i was talking to a machinest here and he told me that the carier is cast mallible(not spelled right but hopefully you can sound it out) and that shouldnt be a problem if you need to weld up the holes and drill them out. also for the pinnion shaft he said he could cut the gear off the end of the shaft and make it so one could slide the 444 gear on it then with some good welding and machining it would be all good. i may try and find a 444 trany here to tinker with....

lifted Turbos please check in

4.44's are HERE!!
hum probably cant weld up the holes in the carrier as it is cast, but you might be able to clock it a bit and drill all new ones for the front. or you could weld up the carier and then drill it and see if it holds.

pulling heads on ea82
if you need a head i may have one that is yours for shipping only let me know if you need one once its off..... you can pull the heads with the motor in the car if you dont have the ablity to pull the motor out.... (i would rent a engin hoist myself) it will be tight and very trying but if you take your time it will go ok,,, just so you know the 1000 he quoted well most shopes charge 300+ for a tbelt job(takes me about 1.75 hours on an ea82) and 1200-1500 for a reseal(headgaskets and such) and that takes about 5 hours for me. a good mechanic with the right tools can do it in 3 or so if they have a lift and all the right tools. just because the price is high dosnt mean its hard.

AA lift on ea82 wagon rear axle removel Q?
ok for those of you running welded rear diffs on the AA hi clearance lift. are you finding that the increes in angle alows for easyer axle removal. on a non lifted ea82 wagon ive never been able to just take the rear axle out without disconnecting stuff... how about you??????????

Betcha never seen a EA81 coupe like THIS before.
FUGLY i think the wheels suck, the motor is only cool as somone spent lots of time and money making somthing work, body is poor choice with scoupe and all i think a 4wd ea81 turbo coupe with a wrx trasplant and some mudflaps and agressive tires ,would look 10times better this this deal...

Forrester - Lemon or typical??
hum seams like a prime reason to join a fourm........ dont give up on subarus. pluse ive heard that lots of people are making it 100k after the hg deal with no more problems....
-
hp and tow capacity
if you notice most subarus have more torque then hp. which meens they seam to run out of steam before your up to 100mph(ea82 and older) but will burn the tires forever in 1st and most will keep them spinning in 2nd for a bit.. my old ea81 79 wagon would spin the tires in 1st 2nd and curp in 3rd in fwd in rwd mode it would burn both rears in 1st all as long as you wanted.. which means if you slip the clutch you can get them to move awsome loads and tow alot of weight, i have not doubt i could pull a bobcat on a 2 axle trailer with a dual range suby but i probably coulnt go past 2nd gear
