  1. if you notice most subarus have more torque then hp. which meens they seam to run out of steam before your up to 100mph(ea82 and older) but will burn the tires forever in 1st and most will keep them spinning in 2nd for a bit.. my old ea81 79 wagon would spin the tires in 1st 2nd and curp in 3rd in fwd in rwd mode it would burn both rears in 1st all as long as you wanted.. which means if you slip the clutch you can get them to move awsome loads and tow alot of weight, i have not doubt i could pull a bobcat on a 2 axle trailer with a dual range suby but i probably coulnt go past 2nd gear
  2. 4. if it were an american car i would say you must have gotten the car they put extra enering into sould like an american dream if it was a jap car(non subaru) i would say well it must be a mazda or a mitsu,, but being a Subaru,,, i would say. YES Every subaru ive come acrost produced after 98 or so and non ej20 has seamed like a lemon,,,,,,,,,, any car that needs headgaskets befor a timing belt is a POS good luck sounds like your luck has been better then some and worse then others so count yourself half lucky.
  5. the only newer subarus you will see 30mpgs on are the 2wd legacys from 90-94, at least on a reg bases...oh and a conserivativly drive svx on the highway. i got 24mpg avareage on my trip to cali 1000milles. best was 31, worst was 21 all at about 80mph funny thing is my 73 wagon loaded to the gills at 5000ft in the summer at WOT got 34 mpg at 68-75 mph but yes if people are buying subarus for the milage they are sorely miss informed.
  6. ok guys... ive got a couple of old Subaru factory service manuals. and some other stuff. now these are not for sale they are free but there are some stipulations... first off you must own a vehicle of that year.... or if its pree 78 have one from an newer year then the manual example is if the manual is a 76 then your car needs to be a 76 or 77, i also have 2 FF1 Brshures, also 2 window stickers here are details Window sticker one, 1978 Subaru Deluxe 4 wheel Drive MPV wagon, 1600cc Engine was sold in Butte Montana vin A67L-040728 total price was $5253.50 Window sticker Two 1979 Subaru GL 4 Wheel drive MPV Wagon 1600 cc engine Sold in Worchester MA vin A67L512067 Total Price was $6086.40 FSM 1976 MSA 1069(very light blue) for 1400-1600, in the best shape ive seen of any 76 manual ive had still rough but just worn cover not relly grease or anything FSM 1975 1400(WRX BLUEamost) in awsome shape...... anyway thats it for now. also i have lots of 1980 broshures they show the gen 1 brat and options... very cool. all of this stuff is shipping only........ please mods this is not a For sale or market place item it is a redistrabution of some of my FSM collection to the GEN 1 Crowed. all others need not even pm me.
  7. i know subaru3 here on the board had a bunch of axle boot.s that would work, i have some from his stock also if he cant ship ill ship but he has first dibs of course..... as long as the axels arent clickin gin corners they well be fine with just a repack.
  8. Hi, came acrost a place here in town that is a bolt distributer. they supply all the merdocks(big R) and lots of other stores. anyway i have a comerical acount with them and can get things relly cheep. this is all great quality stuff, cheep grade grade 5 grade 8 all avalible as are washers and nuts and nylocks. anyway just to give you an idea. localy at ACE Hardware, a 1/4 in nylock nut is .27 cents, from my supplyer they are 3.1 cents... anyway if there is any interest let me know.. shipping will be flat rate so no scames id just like to help people bring down the cost of the own lifts... i can get the bolts one at a time or by the truck load. just let me know the sizes and ill check on prices for you... of course the more the cheeper...
  9. Hi IDahojack,,, i have some stuff for you for this car. let me know which factory manuals you have,,, you see the made a master set in 1972, and every year they came out with a supplement so in order to have a complete factory service manual for your car you need 1972-1975, and low and behold i have everything you need sept for 73 but that year was a very small supplement anyway... anyway if you do decide you want them just pay shipping and give me priorty on rebuy if you sell them.....and there yours...
  10. ok i was at my buddys shop and he showed me a wheel on a new subaru 06 and it was 114.? so this means we cant run the 06+ wheels on our old 5 lug swaped cars,,, can anybody confirm this.....
  11. well with out an over flow bottle the car would have been pushing coolant out everytime you drove it till it was half full.(ive had a gen 1 car exact same thing ea71), anyway i guess it could have headgaskets and if the heads are craked.... well new heads then... ive got 2 cars with 1400s in the and 2 extra 1400 motors but everything is sold to the east coasters so i guess that only helps them........
  12. thats what they were saying. im wondering if with the right prop it could climb vertical.... the only bad thing with them is this. you have to fly them way ahead of themsevles. i was talking to mark the pilot and he said you can lose or gain 100mph so fast that if your not paying attention on aproch it would be easy to stall. also if you do stall you screwed. i guess there have only been a few people (besides the test pilots ) how have recoverd from a deep stall in them. one guy took 13k feet to get it back....... i still like the idea of the rv4 though.
  13. subarubrat... one of the family friends here just finished there plane. its turned out awsome. and is one of 2 ever built.. i would like to build a scalied down modle bassed on an RV4 with a 300hp turbin anyway here are some observed performances and specs on the friends plane... Lance air IVP 800hp Garrett turbine 5 Blade comp prop. climb with 2 people abord and 65% power and 200kts was 4200fpm, 35%power in leval flight was yealding almost 350kts.. anyway ill try and post some pix when i get some. i know your into way out projects and thought you might apricate this one.... chears...
