tailgatewagon replied to tailgatewagon's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
2k is probably about right i think as andrews car was as sweet as any old gen get(just from pix) and i think he stole it. i figure that it should have brought 4-5 , if you look at the prices the old toyota, mazda,s datsons, in awsome shape from th same vintage are bringing 6+ -

so that was you with the 360 van that you were trying to dump.. ahh nuts when i didnt see it in your sig i figured it was gone. id relly like a van. anyway im in no rush and this post is more of a feeling what the local (usmb) feling is on the subject more or less... -
ok i have 2 tailgatewagons. one is a driver it is in grate shap and runs and drives. leaks some oil and could use some tiding up but is in grate shape. no rust small dent in hood and front fender. also have car #2 has good trans and bad motor(no clue just told that when i bought it) anyway. has all the front sheet metal to match where firstcars dents are. intiror is in ok shape with good shifter boot consol(should be in first) lots of grate parts. and not relly any rust just hit in the back so un fixable even thought the tailgate still opens and closes. anyway im thinking of getting rid of them as i have an urg for a 360 or somthing like it..... what should i ask... $$$ i was thinking somewhere around 2k, if it were to be shipped i would take all good parts from car 2 and put them in car 1 for shipping... back of good car http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=2024&sort=1&cat=500&page=6 back of bad car http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=2770&sort=1&size=medium&cat=500&page=6 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=2768&sort=1&size=medium&cat=500&page=6 lots of pix of good car http://community.webshots.com/user/subyguy

im running Nokins q studless i wanted the RSI but Got the Q insted anyway there on my 94 SVX. this car is very low to the ground and dos not have but maybe half the clearance of the car your looking at. anyway. i can push 1.5 feet of snow that is 3 weeks old. i also just took a 3000 mile trip with them only 300 was on snow and ice. and i only lost 1/32 of tread in 3000 miles of 75-85mph driving. . also when i was driving on the snow i felt comfortable at 80mph it was -26F out so that helped but they are awsome..... way better then the blizzak and they last longer...

ok forget a loyal or gl 85-94. if it were me i would only go for a legacy 91- 97 with a 2.2 in it. the cars are made much better then the old loyals so they dont shake apart as fast on the gravil roads. also you can ususaly find a RHD on ebay. of course most of them are high milage....... you should be able to get into a good legacy for around 3-5k, there is a 92 legacy wagon here in mint shape i mean the thing looks almost brand new only has 78k on it. but of course they want 4700 for it. as for tbelts the 2.2 is non interferianc and will serve you well. anyway good luck, and rember NO GL"S OR LOYALS,

uh if its an rx then its probably a 4eat. if you need i can check the hoses on my 88 turbo wagon that has a 4eat in it...

lowering a gen 1
tailgatewagon replied to tailgatewagon's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
oh yea its a 79 GL wagon. and i have the rears figured out. im going to re clock the torshen bars and make new stops for them to shorten there reach as for the front i was thinking of droping in rx springs and cutting them down. since there stiffer.(normaly putting rx spring in would raise the front.... other options i had thought of was threading the strut rod down farther so i can compact the spring more. but i thought the extra would probably blow the strut apart. -
ok so ive i was going to make a stomper Gen 1 wagon. well ive decided to go lower insted. my svx gets around awsome in the snow 1+ foot with 225 60 16 snow tires on it and an auto trany that cant figure out what its dooing so the gen 1 will go low also. anyway i know i can cut the springs? dont relly like that idea as it want way more spring to hold some extra weight so what other options do i have. im thinking of going down oh 3 or 4 inches..... thanks would like to end up with 4 to 6 inches or so...
