A few specks of the car... 1979 DL wagon, engin ea81 (81 brat) trany DR4speed (81 brat) exhost opened up with only a small muffler and side exit just under drivers side rear door. rear diff welded front axels taken out. tires Mud and SNow studded tires(all studds pulled morning of rally at 1am.) anyway had fun ran the car in high range and only in 1st and 2nd gear. started with a time of 104.?? fastest run was 57.30 something can checkit out at http://www.swmtscca.org the car was almost uncontrolable at any time i would step on the gas and it would come around sideways. i was having more problems then anyone in the auto x with being sideways and that with an RX3(tricked out) and a boosted rx7. anyway the rear diff was the cause and it was slow because of it but i had lots of fun that for shure... was only faster then Martys mom int he vr6 golf shes 80+ anyway got alot of comentsfrom the other people in the auto x most of them liked the suby some thought i was going to roll it. as it would pick up the inside rear tire on several corners (the ones i wasnt drifing) and i picked up the inside front tire a couple of times allso i have a small vid of it i will try and get uploaded anyway pix are being up loaded as i speek...

well the LSD is the best option but hay rear ends are cheep and easy to come by i say weld one and try it out see if you like it. if not then run the open. ive been running my 79 wagon with a welded rear in it on pavment for about 3 mounths now shure there is wheel hop, tire ware(whick you will have the way your driving it anyway) but i dont find it that bad i guess we will see this sunday at the auto x,,,,, -

Dual Intercoolers?
tailgatewagon replied to tailgatewagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i was thinking of using two wrx intercoolers and cutting the end tank inhalf on them and welding them together so you wouold have one giant intercooler.... -
So hyp speeking, what do you think of this Dual wrx intercoolers run in series Air to air, air to air Dual wrx intercoolers run inseries AIr to water, air to air would the flow restrictions negate the extra cooling. cant imagin it would slow flow more then a FMIC, anyway what do you think,,

RICE UGLY UGLY RICE. just kidding but i realy dont like the 3dr spoiler one the first page... as for the hatch thing its kinda funky kinda like the rear trim on a honda 600Z wieard enough to be cool... for some reason i think if its not functional or factory then whats the point...... but then again......what do i know most of my cars and the ones i like are 1970s or before and alot of people would say the same thing about them
-
OK a little help here would be awsome. so i put another trany in the 88Turbo wagon. 4AT(yep 4 speed auto). the old trany had had the rear drive line broken out of it (slopy ujoint broke) anyway that was the priviouse owner. so anyway i put in the new trany and it shifts really hard. as in... 1st gear WOT it reves to the shift point and when it shifts it spins the front tires about 3 turns of the wheels. this is an AWD trany NOT 4X4. im lost as to why its shifting this hard.......... any ideas

tailgatewagon replied to operose's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
its funny how in some parts of the country things are rare and here in bozeman we never look 2nd time. (well most) i look millions of times. my pullapart yard i go to has these new addtions as theyve crushed everything 9 mounths ago or so. 1 74 wagon. 10+ 77-79 wagons 4+ 76+ 2 and 4 door sedan. coupe things 1 76 4x4 wagon. and that is what i saw at a glance. i will hate moveing from here to a place like where you all live....
