  1. hay thanks for the replys, ive got an 88 gl-10 turbo wagon that im going to lift 3 in or so, im going to run a 86 dual rang, as for tires not shure but maybe some 29 ssr's, i found an lsd today so thats taken care of. thanks for the replys again, brian
  2. just wondering who has a lifted turbo ea82 or ea81, just wondering,, 1 what size lift your running 2 what size tires 3 what trany your running 4 how you like it. im not here to discuse the merits of lifted turbos unless an owner of a lifted turbo is speaking........ sorry but alot of time these treads get caught up in arguments over weather its stupid to lift turbos......anyway thanks all....
  3. i bet if you take the 4eat out of it and take it to a j/y they will trade if for another 3dr. i looked for a long time for a 4eat and had no luck now im going with a dr 5speed (3.9) so i dont need one but i bet its worth somthing, they are an awsome trany for a slushy, mine wasnt even building bost yet at 80mph with cruse on..... in fact i would say in order to use cruse in that thing in 4th gear you would need to run 90 or so....
  4. i just pulled one out of an 86 dr wagon not to long ago. it took me about 20 min. i just pulled the two bolts that hold up the stearing colum and then twisted and pulled till i found just the right spot and it sliped out as one unit. i havnt put it back in so i cant help you there.
  5. if its going to be a rally car or somthing along those lines, take out the ac and ut on some roof scoops like a rally car? anyway good luck, also you can take out the hood latch mech and put hood pins in the front corners also take out all the carpet and sound padding thats alot of weight right there. good luck let us know how it gos.
  6. pk lift on and rally that thing in a way that makes the auzzzzzzzzzzz guys drool. i love that kind of driving (relly fast over ruff stuff) kinda like the 959 that were lifted 6in (or somthing) and run in the paris to dakar rally. anyway agian lift it and i will want to steal it. leave it stock and it will be just another mild turbo with lots of potental. ... ps ROLL CAGE.
  7. i wonder if the pinion gears are the same as in could they just be swaped? if so that would be the way to go but the dr part of the rx trany is kind of a joke(kinda better then nothing but not as good as 86 dr, i think that that would probably be the easyest way though jerry, i may have to give that a try if i cant get this to work. i should be getting a 87 1/2 xt that im going to pull the parts off of. so that should at least give me a starting point.

  9. one make shure any time you put a t-stat in make shure its subaru oem from the dealer along with the nice rubber and metal gasket that that are subaru only items, imho, anyway. i would get another t-stat and see if it makes a differnce its possible that you got a bum new t-stat. ...........
  10. would this set up make the turbo spool up quicker.. what are the precived improvements over stock.(i know i should know this but im well stupid tonight)
  11. ok so here is a question. probably no one know the aswere but opions would be grate can you take the center diff out of a 5speed s/r w/difflock and put it in a dr 5speed 3.9 i think it would be cool to make a 3.9 dr 5speed that could be 2wd fronts only awd all four but not locked center or 4wd. all four with center locked. the big thing over the rx trans would be the ablity to run in 2wd and also to have 3.9 gearing.. ive looked at the housings and of course the dr has the shift shaft running throught the back housing as the push button and diff lock tranys dont but this could be machined out as to allow for this, anyways what do you think, im going to try as soon as i can find a 5 speed single range trany. or if somone has the back half of the trans(center diff housing) that i could buy from them. anyway thanks brian
  12. i guess my question isnt nessesarly faster but sooner as in a stock subaru ea82t starts making boost at about 2000k(as i rember might be wrong) is there a way to make it spool at 1500 or even earlyer. i suppose if the turbo was on the head it would spool quicker......:cool:

  14. just thought it would make a good post to see what size wheels and tires people are using with there 5 lug wheels. try and include the following, tire size E.G 205/40R17 rim size E.G 17x6.5 offset +50mm kind of wheel. what kind of car its on. also include a pic if you have one thanks. brian
  15. what would be the reason for the devorced waste gate pipe.? whats the effect of having it that way instead of all one pipe. ? where would be the best place to put the o2 senssor??? same distace from the turbo as it is now?
  16. if it was going to be for comp use or with total disreguard to laws and the enviroment:brow: is there a best size for staight pipe an ea82t, i know that back pressure isnt needed because of it being turbo (no scavangeing needed) so i was thinking 3in or so, anyone running 2.5 straight or 3in? my last car an 87 carb wagon had 2.5 straight back from a gutted cat. it had lost some of its low low end but had way more from about 4500 to 7000ish(where ever the valves start to float), any thoughts.
  17. yea put in your good motor and then take the motor out and build it to be a monster motor. cams. turbo. spider intake, ect....... have fun
  18. there is a small hose that gos to the block from the front of the intake rightunder the carb. or some where around there look for them most of the time its just a pin hole and only leaks once the car is hot... look with a light and take your time you will find it good luck.
  19. there is an rx on the car lot here in town that is stock and has a 4speed 4eat trany.

  21. cabaroo (dont remeber how to spell it) i think had pix of a gen one brat that lives in Ozzy land that has an STI forester motor and trany in it, he told me that he used a varity of parts..... i guess ill be doing the same(as fare as 5 bolt.) garner ill keep in touch as i work
  22. ok im shure this has been coverd in another post but my searching skills are poor i guess. ive read texs post on it. anyway i have a xt6 4wd that i can pic parts from and an imp also. i would like to put 5 bolts on a gen 1 car a 79 wagon. its got an ea81 and dr4speed but that will be changed to a fulltime 5speed with diff lock. anyway anyone know if its a strait bolt on or has it been done before. thanks brian
  23. i was reading in one of my mags(offroad i think) anyway the full size broncos had a devorced t case like the NIssan 720, but as i remeber its a NP205. probably a little heavy for most lifted subarus but probably good behind an xt6 or ej20g or somthing like that anyway thats the only other devorced tcase i know of...
  24. this is a blue gsr right. if its the one im thinking of then i would pay 9000 for it if i had the money and it were for sale. as for what its relly worth. who knows. kinda like my 73 split tailgate wagon. some guy offerd me 4000 for it but i couldnt sell it although im not shure my wagon is worth it. might check the jap, r2ss pages and ask one of them there not bad if you use the alatvista web thinging. they would know better what its worth.
