  1. i am unaware of an hydo lifter ea71 that is the 1600cc motor of the mid to late seventys and in 2wds of the 80s hatches and wagons. anyway if you do have hydro lifters use SEA FOAM in the oil and change the filter and oil every 2000 miles and see if it gets better. it should if its just a pluged lifter if the lifter is bad then you may have to change it. of course you can let a hydo lifter clack away for a very long time as in the 10s of thousands of miles without much happening. whay year is your car and make.?? PS sea foam is avalible at your parts store. and it has fixed about 6 out of 10 hydo lifter clacksing cars that i have worked on.
  2. i know of a junk yard with upwords of 50 older ones and im talking 74-77 type stuff. there are probably 30- 50 here in the bozeman vally that are still running on my way to the comp lab i saw 2 78's a 77 sedan a cuple of 79s and i was in my 73.......... in the usa i would say probably 2500 or so running
  3. yep 1st gen for shure. ive seen that on 77-78, and my pre 76, 76 had a funny wide hood(the raised portion was raised, and so they were a bit differnt. thats cool nice find i love the old subaru stuff.
